Where they compared 5 "cafe racers" on the drag strip ? A Ducati, 2 Triumphs, and an HD. The V7R came in last of course. They claimed the V7R had 40 HP. The comparison was with bikes with HP over 100.

What was funny was the fact that what, MAYBE 3 of those bikes (the Duc and Goose and Thruxton) actually WERE Café racers.

The modern Triumph Sportbike was just that, a modern sportbike and not a Café racer.

The Harley (and I'm a Sportster guy, arguably have two of em if you count the Buell) was FUNNY, I mean Yeah, it's a Café Racer WITH FORWARD CONTROLS REALLY

I seem to remember one or both of the two professional drag racers commenting how they could own the Guzzi though... B) Some people get it.

Yeah, speed/street tripple is a cafe as much as I'm Rossi on the bike. Doh. Same with Harley. Silly.

The HP they were quoting was likely WHP? And sure, Thuxton and Sport Classic will be faster in a straight line. The older guy, pro-drag racer, did say he'd like V7 himself.

Not a bad show, but that episode was bit cheesy.

I watched it and couldn't figure out the Speed Trip. They already had a Thruxton so why another Triumph. Pretty much a bogus test. Who cares how they drag race. Unequal bikes, unequal riders.
Want a comparo. Let the Boz bros each do laps. I'd bet the V7 wouldn't be last.

Well, that psycho-world article wasn't really a comparison, it was more a "look at all these interesting mid-range bikes that are available" kinda article.

Though it is amusing that even the Honda 500 is quicker than the V7 in a drag race.

The 1200cc Harley came in next to last (and only 3 mph faster) than a 750.

Even MCN typically has the XL 1200 a full second or more quicker in the 1/4 than a v7.

Not to mention unlike a v7 they are easily uncorked with an AC and pipesto achieve up to about 80 hp / 80 ft lbs torque which puts it at about a mid 12 second quarter, as fast or faster than a 2V Guzzi big block.
