Hi all,
Any ideas on why my 07' Griso with 8500 miles would have the speedometer stop working for no apparent reason? Took it out for a weekly exercise today, and the speedo worked intermittently, then went to "0" for the rest of the ride.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks-

Did you get the bike wet? On early models the speed sensor is known to be not sealed and will fail if it gets wet. I had an intermittent problem after washing my bike in the fall. Speedo went to 0 and magically started working again about 80 miles into my weekend ride. I've seen instructions for sealing the unit in one of the forums.

Both posts above are valid on finding the problem. Water ingress will cause it to fail, and it will throw and error code (and likely a big WARNING! on the dash) if/when it fails.

mine did the same after riding through the floods.

symptoms where speedo not working service warning on. Parked bike in garage and then just turned the ignition on and got the service sign again. Removed the sensor from the CARC and cleaned it up. it did have sign of water damage. Local dealer did not have any left so stuck it under a hair dryer to heat it up. Resealed with silicon bath sealer and let it cure for a day. problem fixed until the next time.

out of focus pic of the sensor.

All, thanks for the replies. Will check the sensor out this weekend. I also realized that it may be related to a recent battery drain. Will let you know what I find out.

Just to clear things up - it was my battery. The original died shortly after this post. New battery = good speedo for now.

Thanks-

Hi!

I'm also suffering from my Griso-s speedo error. (Griso 8V 2008) I try to reset with the code (12425) but nothing happen - the computer write the Service and the red ! blinking and also the speedo shows 0 kmh :)

So where can I found the speedo sensor (front or rear? , and what should I do? (hairdryer?)

Advanced question :) : Is there any option to show the actual gear? I'm new to Griso, forgive me...

Thanks in advice!

Josh

The speedo sensor is on the inside of the CARC at the rear wheel. If you look at the rear brake caliper you'll see a small wire that runs behind the CARC. That goes to the sensor. It's held on with small allen bolts that can be removed fairly easily after you rotate the wheel to give access.

For what it's worth, the hair dryer thing didn't work for me. I ended up dipping mine in rubbing alcohol, then letting it sit overnight indoors on a paper towel. Others have had success putting it in a jar of white rice to absorb the moisture.

Incidentally, they don't have to get very wet to stop working. Mine stopped after a humid night in the garage.

Thanks for the answer. I will try your suggestions.

Is it possible to show the actual gear in the clock? I'm only see there is a limiter to when I should switch gear up...

Not as far as I know. That would require a sensor on the shift mechanism. The speed limit indicator is a software program that reads the rpms and warns you when you hit a certain limit. It can be set for a different limit through the dash as outlined in your owner's manual.
