Has anybody come across an Error Code MSGT0004, it appeared today on the dash and the bike was dead on the button, also when the seat was removed, there was a bit of smoke/spark and a fizzing noise from the positive terminal when the key was operated.
I tightned the terminal and tried the spare key and the bike started first time, it's been suggested that the code relates to an immobiliser fault and it didn't recognise the original key transponder.

Anybody heard of this issue before ?

Cheers Livo.

I think that is a dash error code. The power issue may have caused it. i recommend removing, cleaning and re-installing the battery cables. Let us know if occurs again. Also try your original key, it should work.

I have had that error. Usually get it when I am connecting/disconnecting the negative terminal from the battery if I am not quick enough. Could be as simple as a loose connection on the terminals.

I stopped for gas tonight and the bike would not restart. I was getting this code. After much Italian swearing  I cleaned the negative battery cable and it started right back up.

So now I have on the list to clean the terminals each oil change. :(

I had a occasional seeming ramdon error codes, I had a slightly leaking OEM battery, installed a Anit Gravity battery, all good for the last 4 months. Expensive but worth it!
