Finally getting around to replacing my dash on the Stelvio. Put in for a warranty claim on some condensation in the dash and it has been sitting in my garage since last year. Original dash works perfectly fine but to the point where the condensation stains are starting to bug me.

When you install the new dash is it just plug and play aside from having to program the keys. Do I need to do anything to retain the mileage or does that reside in the ECU. Also assuming the security code in the new dash for the key override is 00000.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I think you have a good handle on programming your keys. Still I'd consider contacting the importer to get specific instructions on the dash replacement. That isn't done often and there probably aren't many dealers that have done that. As to what data is retained, again that would be ask the importer.

I recently had my dash replaced under warranty, due to clear stripes through the screen.

The key codes had to be inserted, and no, the mileage is not stored, you have to make a note of existing mileage and add it mentally to the new mileage, i.e., starting from zero.

Don't forget, as I did, to supply BOTH keys to the dealer, to save two journeys!

Ray.

You can programm the keys yourself. And the miles start at zero. I bought a low mile 2012 dash to have more segments in the tank display, and added the miles myself to retain original milage. How did I do that? I have the non abs one, so I took the connector of the speed sensor of, and put wires of a headphone output from the laptop in. There I started a tone generator program, and tuned for max speed. Connected the battery tender and waited a week, then I was at the right mile display.

The dash is made that it can't be programmed from the outside to prevent fraud.

I thought there was a way that the dealer could add miles to a replacement dash once, then it set itself to never allow it to be altered again. So the replacement could be bumped up to the actual miles, once.

Wayne, I think that on a new bike it can be zeroed if it has less than so many miles, but not miles added.

I've been searching if there is a way, and found on an aprilia forum a guy who had disassembled and reverse engineerd all code, and found that there was no point in the code to allow that. Only when you open the dash, there was a connector inside, that allowed for flashing the thing, but thats not for an average user.
