Touratech Spoiler on the windscreen

Has anyone tried a Touratech spoiler that mounts on top of the screen? I have been experimenting to try and reduce the wind noise on my NTX. If I rest my left hand on top of the screen in a vertical position (palm of my hand facing me) , it significantly reduces wind noise. If I then slop my hand back at the same angle as the screen, the noise returns. If I hold my hand in front of the screen to simulate a laminar lip, the noise returns. So I'm picking that a short screen extension in a vertical position might be the answer to reducing wind noise. Has anyone tried this configuration? Touratech make short spoilers that clamp onto the top of screens. This is the type of thing I am thinking of fitting.

I haven't used the Touratech unit but the MRA X-creen : http://www.mra.de/en/x-creen

They have a clamp on kit or you can drill and mount permanently. This has worked really well for me. It has a huge range of adjustability, appears to be more versatile than the Touratech so it might be worth considering.

What distance from the main screen and angle have you found best?

My Touratech spoiler works just fine, no wind up to 100-120 km, forgot to turn the helmet sometime.
Took it away for a while but there straight again.
my length 175cm

I used the wunderluch one - I cut the top of the windshield down in a concave fashion to remove about 3" of material at the center as it was right in my field of vision

works great! - the cut out and additional edge area really stiffen the windshield and the wing lofts the wind over my helmet

I'll post a pic when I can

Sorry, haven't been visiting much recently- I have mine set up more or less parallel with the main screen and the gap is about 2-2.5 inches but I think it really depends on how high you set the main screen (mine is an aftermarket GIVI) how tall you are etc.

The nice thing about the X-creen is that there is a very wide range of adjustment so with a bit of experimentation you should be able to get a good setting for you.

I have to agree with the MRA xcreen reccomendation. I have one and can happily ride at 100kmph++ visor open. It is very adjustable. I mounted mine using the clamps. But it can be installed permanently wit drilling the screen.

Finally got around to taking a couple pics of the Wunderluk spoiler I installed.

I also cut the windshield down a bit and made a concave cut on the top edge - to shorten and stiffen. Works for me is all I can say

Hi
I have tried the Touratec spoiler, the Laminar Lip, an Aerotrim and the MRA. In fact my screen still bears the remnants of the mounting kits for each!
The Touratec was OK but I didn't like the mounting bracket in the middle of the screen.
The Laminar Lip and the Aerotrim, I found both next to useless.
Others, I'm sure, will disagree but this is based on my personal experience with each and all were given a fair crack.

I settled on the MRA as it did provide me with the best wind deflection and I can ride at higher speeds with my flip lid or visor up. I have it mounted via the brackets rather than drilling holes and have the extension arms fitted. The best screen I ever had was a 'Clearview' on my 1300 Honda Pan European (ST 1300). The MRA can't really fairly compare but it does a good job. I am 6'00 tall and ride 'tall' with a straight back.

Hope my two penneth is useful.
Best regards
Nik.

My Stelvio's off the road at the mo as the bl**dy alternators gone and I can't get it fixed for at least two weeks!

I know screens and the protection they provide is a very personal thing but I thought I'd share this with you.

To add my recent personal experience, I have a MRA screen with adjustable laminar lip fitted which was on the bike when I bought it last year.
I used a Shoei XR1000 helmet until this week and at any reasonable speed (70+) I had to have the screen on its lowest position, with the lip fully down, to avoid such bad buffeting and vibration that I couldn'f read the nunberplate of cars in front of me
I've just bought a HJC helmet (RPHA MAX) and using it is a revelation, I can put the screen up and adjust the lip so I can ride with the visor cracked open at motorway speeds.
Buffeting is very much reduced as seems to be wind noise (authough this may be due to the new posh earplugs)

I was amazed at the difference the helmet made especially as the Shoei was no problem on my previous bike (CB1300 with a small nose fairing).

If you're really struggling with the screen maybe try an alternative helmet and see if it makes a difference, did for me.

Yes I think I will treat myself to a new helmet. I have a a Shoei XR1000 also which is a very noisy helmet. I think I will also fit a spoiler.
