After a 3 day trip, the stock seats deficiencies have me looking for a replacement. No luck so far with the usual suspects (Corbin, Sargent, Ebay etc.). Any suggestions greatly appreciated

My 1980 G5 that had the worst seat ever. After 100 miles it began to get uncomfortable. Too narrow and zero support for us full figured gents...

I picked up another (G5) seat and redid the foam... still the shape was lousey.

I wound up putting a Harper Police seat on the bike (Ebay) and it is most excellent now.

Wide was the issue. The police seat is so wide that I have to skootch up a bit to put both feet flat on the gorund. ( 30" inseam... baby).
Mounting is more inconvienient as I removed the Harper rear mount and installed 8mm bolts. They are secure and work better with the saddle bag / radio mount set up.

My Eldo has the original police solo seat on it and the Harper is more comfortable.

Good luck. I dunno if going LAPD style is one that will work for you.

Thanks for the reply. I'm afraid my wife might misinterpret the purchase of a solo seat , so we're not going that route. What I am looking for is the equivalent of a Corbin/Sargent seat for a 1000sp

Sargent will custom make a seat for you. You will need to send them your seat pan. There is also the Russel/Mayer options as well, and agin they will need your pan. Back in the day, Mayer Day Long (now Russel) made seats for this style Guzzi.

Thanks! Sargent it is,then. Their site is vague on the custom options soI will phone them.

Have a third person for photos. Have them take pictures of you and spouse on the bike (on center stand will work. Provide weights and inseam lengths. Also on the existing seat, place a line on the side indicating level with the bike off the center stand. I used a bullet level and crayon marker to do this.

Talking with them is best, but follow up with an e-mail confirmation of all said in the call. Print a copy and include it with pictures when you send the seat.

How about the standard skunk seat from a T3 California? As long as you don't run the standard T3 Cali grab rail, there is plenty room for a pillion. Solo, you can shift around to suit.
