Love my 2002 MG 1100EV, but the manual leaves a lot to be desired. Particularly, it doesn't tell you what the red key is for. Black key fits everything, red key fits nothing. Bags don't have locks.

Are you the original owner of the bike? If not, the red one may have been for a replacement fuel cap, and eventually the cap was keyed to the original bike key. When I change caps for people, I change the tumbler to keep the bike to one key operation.

If you have checked the red key against the gas cap and seat/helmet lock and it fits nothing, and it is not possible to have the red key cut to match the black key, then it is pretty much useless and you might as well toss it. The factory may have bundled the wrong key with the bike, or the original dealer gave the first owner a wrong key. If you don't have a spare key I do recommend purchasing a blank and having it cut to match you black key.

The situation on my '02 California matches John Z's description - the original gas cap lock failed and the replacement cap has red keys.

If memory servers correctly, the factory may have sent one black and one red originally. Otherwise, agreed on above that it is likely a key that was used on the bike at some point. I think if it doesn't fit anything on the bike now, it's safe to remove and hang for another year or so just to be sure.
