Bought this bike in Oct. 2012 with just over 2300 miles. Had put very many miles on it leading up to Aug. 2013....a couple thousand I suppose. Went on a trip, drove about 450 miles to a rally. Got there setup camp and then left for a local ride. As I was idling through the camp grounds in 1st gear I could faintly hear a strange noise from what seamed to be coming from the transmission. As I was about to speed up I simply couldn't hear it. A year later the noise is louder now. The noise comes and goes, when it happens nothing I do, like pulling in and releasing the clutch, putting it in gear, revving up the engine will change the sound. Next time I will place on the center stand and see if I can hear it better.

I realized I didn't mention what the noise sounds like, the best way to explain it, is it sounds like 3 or 4 marbles in tumbling tin can. Strange I know!

is it a rythmic tapping matching engine speed?, and have you lost some free play at the lever?

Mine has that rythmic tapping sound. seems to be coming from the gearbox.. in neutral with the clutch lever out(clutch engaged). pull the lever (disengage the clutch), the tapping goes away.
When just started up, engine cold, its a fairly loud sound. Once everything is warmed up it is still there but not nearly as noticable.

hydros have little you watch for the transition from not much to even less or none, then bleed it if you still have none or less than you had originally you are on borrowed time. (if the heavy thump matching engine revs is present)
