Zinc Content of Popular 10w60 Oil

Unless you dose 10w60 with ZDDP additive. Still, the Mobile 1 VTwin is attractive and has been used in many high-performance bikes for years.

Without a thermostat on the oil cooler, I have to think that the 20w50 could be an issue, especially in cold weather.
I have to wonder if the addition of a thermostat on the oil cooler wouldn't have made these a bit more friendly to normal weight lubes.

I'm running Mobil 1 20W50 in my 2V 1200 Sport. No issues in TX heat this summer and the winters stay above freezing so I think the 20W is OK too. Also Mobil 1 75W90 gear lube. My conscience won't let me use a competitor's product.....

Good point.

But I am still curious as to why they cheaped out on no thermostat. And how much that influences the oil requirements.
They probably figured putting in a thermostat would cost them more $$$ than just running a 10W60 oil.
