I am taking my Stelvio to the track Saturday (Circuits of the Americas in Austin, TX) and I had a few questions regarding track prep. Mainly, is it ok to disconnect the headlights and turn signals.
-I removed the headlight fuse and unplugged the brake light, will i run into any electrical issues?
-I removed the mirrors (US model, so the turn signals went with it) now the bike gives me an error message, will this be ok for a day? Also is there a way to remove the error message? it's making it a pain to access my lap timer (error message keeps popping up).
Thanks, your help is appreciated.
If you thibk of anything else i should do, thanks for letting me know.
So far i've removed the aux lights, center stand and side stand (using a front wheel chock to park it), luggage brackets, side deflectors, mirrors and hand-guards.

Sounds fun. No way to make the error go away short of plugging and hiding a set of signals or resistors inline. I need to verify the fuses/wiring, do the just turns have a fuse?
Be sure to take and post pics and video!

the charging system is no issue...but you need to have a tab welded on the oil filter to safety wire it, a spin on with no retention is a no go, also get a griso dip stick so you can safety wire that as well the push in dip stick will also not be able to be run...you may be able to get by without a belly pan but i doubt it. a griso pan will work fine

No need to safety wire with RideSmart.

Have fun at CoTA, post some pix of the Stelvio leaned over!

did not look only going off every track I've been to, just looked and they allow standard antifreeze...very lax down there. the headlights off pose no issue I have ridden hundreds of miles with out headlights on the stelvio ntx and the bike never knew they were off (my head lights failed on a regular basis in the middle of a ride, I added clearwater leds as a backup so I could get home) the brake light and turns will throw a warning but will not affect running...

Thanks for the replies! Yes it is with ridesmart so no safety wire required. I guess i will just have to live with the error messages. Seems like if i press the mode button a few seconds before completing a lap (error message goes away for a few secs) i can complete the lap and record the time (lap times aren't that important to me, just though it would be neat). I will have 2 Gopro cameras on the bike and there will be a photographer there, i will post pictures for sure.

You may want to consider taping over all the gauges so you're not tempted to look at the speedo before braking for Turn 12! I would do that to limit my distractions. You can still see max speed once your session is done. Timing a lap would be cool, see how you compare to Marc!

I've got a RS credit that I'll use this fall, probably at MSR Houston on my 1200 Sport. Are you doing Level 1? With classroom? If so, please post your impressions of RS and how much coaching you got.

Thanks,
Tom

I was in level 2 with classroom. The riding coaches are good help, you have the option of them following you on the track so they can give you advice. The only critique i have is that some of the riding coaches give advice that is their own opinion, and it differs from coach to coach.
