Noticed a new part on 2009 Griso 8v

Visited my dealer on the weekend. He had a new 8v being set up for a customer and I noticed a small part on it that my 2008 model doesn't have. Doesn't look particularly important, but I assume it must have some purpose - a guard maybe? (Referring to the angular piece of plastic - right side) Any ideas?

I noticed this too. I really didn't like it as it felt cheap... real cheap. if it's a guard I can't imaging that it's going to protect much. What I did notice that the intake on the 8V is more out side than the G1100 I guess to accommodate the cam running on the inside of the head. Maybe this is to protect the injectors?

It has been already added sometime late 2007/ early 2008, as my bike (which I recieved March 2008) has it. However it is missing in 8V Press Release images from September 2007, so I believe the first bunch of bikes did not have that.

Of course, as it does not have any obvious functionality, if the factory is missing those, they simply might finish the bike without it.

Normally only found on the Scottish models, ta keep yarrrr kilt ooota tha' linkage, laddie! ;)

A non-essential bit o' frippery, considering that none of the pre-existing models ever had any complaints of the TB linkage getting hung up on anything, but hey, it can't actually hurt anything.

Maybe it's there as a reminder that none of the linkage needs adjustment on the new models, all the settings are done electronically via the dealer-only test kit? :S
