Need Help.

Accidentally conected a new battery arse about.
Bike stated & rode ok, went for a ride.
After a bit, stated to lose power, lost dash lights then lights, then the bike stopped. Also saw that voltage had dropped.
Currently, when I switch on the ignition, I get full voltage, all lights on, but when I depress the starter, no action.

What, if anything you any of you folks think I have buggered up?

Just about every electronic component. Definitely the charging system rectifier/regulator, possibly the ECU and other components.

Wait, so with an inverted polarity, the bike start and ran for awhile? That makes zero sense, as some major fuses should've went the minute you turned the key on. Do follow up with us on what you find.

If your bike started and ran, there is no way your alternator was sending charge to the battery.I think the internal diodes in an alternator would block the current. May be the case why the bike stopped.

For the hell of it I would check the battery to see if it's dead. That may explain why your instruments came on, but didn't have enough juice to start it.

I hope for you its that simple.

Maybe you guys should look into an inline diode as a sacrificial lamb. The MV has one and it seems every week there is a post about someone blowing one up doing the exact same thing. Much cheaper fix.

Well, I charged the battery up, and all seems well, there was a fuse blown, was in the secondary box (with the 2 fuses) so I'll keep an eye on the battery to see it is charging. If it's not charging, then I'll have a good place to start for the repair.

(think I dodged a bullet this time)

Thanks for all your replys

It is good to be lucky. The electronics seem to be more robust than I would think.
