Just loaded Kenda Challengers on the G5.

Needed new meats. Thought I would get some experience going cheap. What an experience!

Picked up 100/90 18 front and 120/90 18 rear and had them installed for about $120 total. Re-used the inner tubes.

I figgure if they last 8K miles then it's a great deal!

Within 100 miles, midnight, @ 65 MPH, 5 miles from home... rear flat. WTF?

No marks on tire... must be tube?

Went to different shop and had new tube installed. ($46) The old tube had what looked like two small holes in it about 2 inches from valve stem. Looked like a crease or something...

hmmmm.

2 days later (last night), bike seems squirrely at speed. (11 PM @ 65 MPH of course).

This AM I check tire pressure... 5 pounds lower in rear and ALMOST ZERO in front!

I think I need to sh*t can these tires and just pop the dough for Metzellers before Kendas kill me.

Tires are just one of those things I don't skimp on. I too learned my lesson racing, where trying to make tires last 'just one more practice session' landed me on my head (well thankfully not literally) and thousands of $'s in repair.
Good to know, thanks for posting.

It appears that I shall be eating crow for lunch today.

I took the flat front wheel back to where I bought it (Santa Clara Cycle). I explained what was happening regading air loss. The owner warrenteed the front tire install... put a new tube in and didn't charge me at all! Far out indeed!
I've ridden about 200 miles since then.
Front tire holding air just fine.
Rear tire holding air just fine.
Apparently it was the old innertubes I directed to be re-used that had failed with the new Kendas.

Learnings:
Replace the tubes when getting new tires.
Santa Clara Cycle is a good place.

Now I hafta go back there and pay for the tube and install because it was completely my fault the tires failed.

hmmm getn' older doesn't necessarily mean yer getn' smarter huh.

I think the guy who installed you tires pitched the tubes by either getting them caught between the rim and the tire or with the tire irons. The tires aren't the problem, and the tubes, with only one use on them, should be fine, too. If the tubes are too big, They can show wrinkles, but you should see these when you pull the tube out. Sound like the guy who changed them isn't very experienced. You could have new tubes put in and an inexperienced changer can pinch those too! I usually reuse tubes through four of five changes, but they do need to be monitored when you changed the tires. The guy changing should see if you have a problem coming up, as in chafed tubes or wrinkles. DI these people use talcum powder in the tires when they change them? Gotta do that. I always powder my tires when I take them down to my guy who does the changing so I don't have to worry about whether or not it's been done. I I haven't had a tube tie flat in a long time. As is decades. Can't say so much for tubeless.
