@ Mike, I've heard that before from other Cali owners in Arizona, gives me hope ;)
@ Todd, I certainly get the air cooled / high temps - felt it, got the scars. From your description, however, my issues don't sound like overheating; on warm days in traffic, the bike definitely rides rough, but...
I believe the fan is working. Hard to confirm in traffic, but I limped I to the driveway once last Summer and used the engine cut off in the driveway; the fan was running.
My Cali is still suffering in the heat. I haven't noticed it as much since I've changed my riding pattern, not getting caught in stop and go traffic and avoiding really hot days, but every now and then the bike falls back into limp mode - lack of power, nothing above 4000 rpm, bogs down, feels...
Curious about the replacement headlamp. Was the OPT7 H4 LED a simple plug and play, or did you have to do any mods to accommodate for any differences in power, heat, fit? Looking for a solution to improve headlamp visibility on my Cali 1400, but hesitant to introduce anything that might cause...
H&B Buffalo Bags (30L) on my 2014 Cali Custom . Pricey, but I think they look great and love the C-Bow connections that allow for quick, clean removal if/when desired.
Dan
When I had the H&B saddle bags installed, they shared common side mounting point with the rack. The installer removed the side support bolts for the rack and attached only the saddle bags. I since followed a thread here and modified the H&B mounting brackets, cutting off approx 1/2 inch on each...
Yikes! I did have a break on my rack, not on the bar, but on the rear centre support tab. Improper install contributed to the stress; snapped the rear fender tabs, sheared the top fender bolt and broke the weld on the support tab. I replaced the rack, installed properly, and have the original up...
I like it! I usually hide helmets in the top case, but recently took the bike to work without and quickly realized that I had nowhere to secure the helmet. Just zipped the helmet strap around anything on the side of the bike and hoped for a good neighbourhood ... Helmetlok would be a handy...
Ah ha, I see them on their website. Also still available on eBay from same company, but $20 cheaper (?!). Is that a simple process to swap out the levers, no surprises?
You're right. Canada's Motor Vehicle Safety Act requires that all new vehicles sold in (or imported into) Canada and built after 1 December 1989, be fitted with daytime running lights that go on when you start the vehicle. I suspect that's why I don't have the options to turn off any of the...
Do you have a pic of this switch on the front of the RH bar? I've read a few references to this switch and have searched all over the bars in my 2014 Custom and I can't find this mystery switch(?).
Dan
I never heard the fan while the bike was running, but after a warm ride, instead of turning off the ignition, I flipped the engine stop switch and, with the engine off, I could hear the fan; it continued running for 10-15 seconds before all the electrical items shut down.
Yikes! Glad you're OK. I hope not to test mine to the same degree that you've pushed your bags, John, but I echo your support for the H-B Buffalo bags with C-Bow mount. They look great, love the functionality as they pop off easily, and drove home today in the pounding rain; bone dry
