    Shaft Drive 'Click', backlash?

Hello. V7iii owner here who has just bought a V85TT, 2019 with only 3000 km on it. Driving back through the hills in Spain I noticed a very audible 'click' on deceleration. I thought 'Backlash' anybody else hear something like this? I will be checking fluid levels later today but I would be...

    Moto Guzzi Customer Service

Help! Does anybody have a working telephone number into MG or indeed Piaggio customer service in Italy? My bike, a V7iii, 7 months old has now been off the road with a charging fault for 8 weeks. It really is not the dealer's fault they have to follow MG/P warranty procedure and the guy...

    V85 Oil Consumption

T Thanks. I understand that....though mystified why such a simple thing as oil level and how to read the dip stick is such a drama for Moto Guzzi! I will look at the air box but the guy who owns it is very experienced so I doubt this is the issue.

    V85 Oil Consumption

I am looking to buy a second hand V85, a euro 4 I think since I test rode a euro 5 and found the bike very jerky in the closed loop part of its map. I am in Spain so not too much choice around. I have found one candidate but the owner complained on social media (obviously not to me a...

Well, it was going so well.

Hello! Thanks very much for this! I will do some research. May I ask: Is this a common failure? And also are you recovering well?
  7. O

Well, it was going so well.

Yes. It is good that I found a dealer in Pamplona who helped me on my way. It got me home and it got me to the dealer who diagnosed it correctly. Apart from me being cross with MG for 'months for part' how do I stop it just happening again?

Well, it was going so well.

First of all I wish Todd a speedy and full recovery, all the Best mate! Secondly my issue diagnosed as burnt out stator coils. Now the only accessory I have is a USB phone charger so I am left thinking that this is either (1) Crap component or (2) Crap design or (3) Crap luck. What I do have to...

Very good! The indicator that is, very bad that the capacity of the charging system is almost nothing!

    V85 Questions

There is advice on here to change the geometry of the V7 by dropping the forks a little to make the bike turn easier. I found the TT quicker in turns than the V7 hence my comment

    V85 Questions

Thanks for your replies. Very interesting. There is apparently a bulletin out about routing of the throttle cable and pick up which explains the throttle blipping on idle. What are your thoughts on the moderate rpm steady throttle but jerky response? It fits right in with closed loop fuel...

Well, it was going so well.

Thanks. Now I am going to ask a daft question so brace yourself! So these are the wires that go to what is described as a 3 way connector in the service manual? I cannot read the circuit diagrams because they are so small and insufficient resolution to magnify. So can I ask more daft questions...

Well, it was going so well.

Yup, Imthink that will be me too. So the stator to stator needs to be tested. Do you happen to know where the connector is located? Many thanks.

Well, it was going so well.

Hello, so some news. As I said battery failed top of Pyrannes so I bump started it and went to MG concession in Pamplona. There they fitted a new battery, told me warranty was only 6 months and my bike 7 months and said charging system ok. I then rode 1000 km back home. Battery fully charged...

Well, it was going so well.

Visually the fuses are fine, the battery is only 6 months old, well the bike is only 6 months old but I guess it could have spent ages in the crate

Well, it was going so well.

Thanks for this. I read about the stators but I thought their failure was consequential on something else going wrong. I do hope it is not that I am halfway up the pyrenees!

Well, it was going so well.

V7iii, 6 months old, 12000 km. Just driven north from Andalucía to Scotland and back though France with a 10k service in UK. Crossed the Pyrenees today and just inside Spain battery died. Just completely flat. No voltmeter with me but I suspect the charging system. Will try to bump start it...

    V85 Questions

So I had an hour and a half on one and this is what I found: Ride was very good, seemed quicker in corners than my v7iii so I will be dropping the forks by 10 mm. Suspension ok, not great but ok. I managed to find an unpaved road and its performance on that was quite acceptable. Switchgear...
