V85 engine heat compared to the Stelvio

Thanks vagrant. At one point I was searching for longer footpegs so that I could get my legs spread out little further. It sure was nice riding in the winter though! Now to go check one of the V85s out. I hear it calling me.

V85 engine heat compared to the Stelvio

I recently parted company with my 2013 Stelvio. It is/was an awesome bike but living in the southeast (Alabama) the heat put out by that wonderful motor was brutal. I found myself riding my KLR on longer summer rides to keep from getting scorched. I'm wondering if anyone has ridden both bikes...

Replacing Stock Stelvio Plug Caps With NGK SB05E

First, thanks to those of you who put together the info on this funky arcing problem. A few days after doing a valve adjust I ran into the problem of a cylinder going out. It would have been nice if had happened right after the work. But no, it waited to surface while I was 30 miles from home...

    Fork Oil Change problem

It's actually rather easy. Especially if just changing the oil. You could also just remove the forks and take them to another dealer that knows how to change fork oil which would save you some money and let them do the tricky part. They would just get refill specs from the internet. I got...

    Fork Oil Change problem

Canuck, Thanks for the reply. There must be something different with my forks. I backed off of the preload before removing the forks. Under the spring was the nut I thought would be used to remove the cap. This nut turned out to be a 17mm jam nut. It was easy to get a wrench on and loosen, but...

FORKS! How to fill with oil and re-assemble?

Litch, Did you have any trouble removing the cap from the damper rod? I wasn't able to access the retention nut adequately from under the cap. All, I note in the picture in posting #6 above by John Warner that it looks like the damper rod was disassembled from the bottom of the fork versus...

    Fork Oil Change problem

Thanks guys for the help. I did as suggested and afterwards checked the oil levels to see how they looked and they came out within a 1/16 of and inch of each other. So all is good. I took it out for a ride and the clunk in the front end (that caused me to consider the oil change) disappeared...

    Fork Oil Change problem

Does this mean that you're not concerned with the level from the top of the tube, but just refill with the 650 cm3 as stated in the manual? I was nervous that I might overfill if there was some fluid still left in the fork that was not expelled through the pump and dump process. I've heard...

    Fork Oil Change problem

Thanks for the reply Trout, but the spring tension doesn't appear to be the issue. At full extension, the spring has little tension on it. Actually, you have to manually compress the spring to gain access to the nut.

    Fork Oil Change problem

While on this topic, I'm wondering why it's really necessary to take the cap, rod, springs, etc out of the shock to get a good level of the oil. It would seem that the critical oil level would be with the "guts" IN the shock, versus out. I recognize it's a little tricky with the spring in the...

    Fork Oil Change problem

First, I hope this is the correct place to ask this question. I'm new to this. I removed the forks from my 2014 NTX to change the oil, wound off the cap, but could barely get a wrench on the nut under the cap to separate it from the pumping member pin (as its called in the workshop manual). The...

    Loss of low beam

Thanks for the sealed relay source Peter. (Cheaper than I thought too!)

    Loss of low beam

Being an ex Ops Mgr, your "Friday" comment made me laugh. I used to find assembly workers making up their own repair processes when something went wrong. Though applauding them for their ingenuity, sometimes it was necessary to do a little training about how their fix worked for now, but longer...

    Loss of low beam

Never mind on above request for wire colors. I fumbled around until I found the correct relay, which does indeed control both low beams and the charging system on my bike. I was able to pull the plastic cap from the relay, remove the movable contact from the locator slot (thought still connected...

    Loss of low beam

Do you remember the colors of the wiring to the relay that was your problem? I understand that the light relay is also for the charging system. My charging system and lights are both out of service. The wiring diagram colors don't match at all. Not one of the relays can I identify! Goodness.

    Clutch Chatter

Its been quite awhile since anything was added to this thread as little was happening. So here's an update: The dealer pulled the motor and removed the clutch for inspection finding what appeared to be machining undulations in the face of the clutch. I've seen a pic and it could be either...

    Clutch Chatter

Perhaps arranging Guzzi rallies wherever folks are having the most problems would be a good way to get attention and have fun at the same time? :P My dealer seems to be "good people". I don't think they like this any more than I do. But as a newer dealer, they don't seem to have a great deal...

    Clutch Chatter

New info regarding above. Talked to the service mgr at the dealer working on my bike who indicated the clutch/diaphragm spring (the part at the extreme left in an assembly diagram) had wear on it indicating that it was not flat. This part doesn't show that it can be purchased (no partnumber). He...
