Like Bill, I have a 1st generation Norge and am very fond of it. My wife enjoys riding on the back as long as we are playing in the twisties. Not so much on longer slab rides. She is 5'7" and gets wind buffeting about eye level that gives her a sore neck after an hour or so on the freeway...
The parts book calls it the Left Hand Lateral Fairing - the one that has the plug to pull out the dip stick.
I suspect I'll end up pulling the headlight fairing to get to the front most bolt.
This stuff alone could convince me to get a non-faired bike. I'm currently reinforcing all the...
Well, the left mid-fairing finally gave way and i'm going to have to replace it.
Have the dash, wind shield, and inner fairing off. The bike was converted to the Sport 1200 chin fairing earlier, so those lowers are not an issue.
Do I need to pull the head light fairing to get to that front...
If you have an early Norge, then the new sensor has a different connector, so you'll have to change that on the wiring as well. I don't believe the old style sensor is available any longer (and you don't want it anyway). Just something else to be aware of before you tear down your bike.

Nope - JB Weld didn't do it. Probably got grease on the other half of the bolt when I was greasing the sleeve too keep the JB from adhering to parts I didn't want it to attach to.
If I can find a long left-handed drill bit to try and back it out.
jdg
Heck, it wouldn't be Bill if he did
Trying the JB Weld thing overnight. Greased up the inside of the sleeve and the bolt, so hopefully I'll be OK. I'll let you know tomorrow if it worked.

Well, I guess I waited too long to rebuild the rear shock as the top mounting bolt has again broken. This time I have 36.4,mm of the 80mm bolt in my hand. This means the bolt broke about dead center of the shock.
I suspect I will have to cut the space out a slice at a time until I can wiggle...
OK, so I'm late seeing this post, but I did read the LA Times article when it was posted.
The first time I visited Guy and started up a friendship with him was the Harry Quinn Vintage Bike Rally in 2009. I was a new Norge owner, having taken possession barely a month earlier. That was also...
Thanks Todd - I think I have a new (used) set coming from Pete. As soon as those show up, I'll pull the old one and get you the confirmed information. Both those links look good. The metal ones look like stuff I used to use on carbs back in the 60's. I don't think I've seen those ends for a...
So apparently I have a pretty unusual situation for which neither my local dealer, nor Moto International has a reasonable solution.
One of the plastic sockets on the throttle body synchronization linkage that snaps onto the throttle body butterflies (?) has gotten loose or has cracked...
Some of the Vespa paints are similar if not identical to the Guzzi paints. I picked up a tube of Vespa Dragon Red (VES002) from TouchUpDirect that is so close to the Guzzi Norge Red that I can't tell the difference. Give them a call +1 855-600-8160.
Is the 2012 White the same as the 2009...
Les - I don't think there is a real answer for all folks. I have an '07 Norge and the stock seat was good for about 2.5 500+ mile days. By the end of the third day my ass was tired. I did a ride in to Bill Mayer and Rocky and the crew did a custom seat while I waited and tested it at...
That drop in mileage sounds a bit extreme. Granted I have an '07, but the mileage drop on mine was only about one (1) MPG.
Have you double checked the settings on the optimizer? Perhaps they got changed in shipping from the optimal.
Good luck,
jdg
If you have Contis on your bike, you might want to check this recall notice...

Todd talked me into the suspension upgrade shortly after I got a few miles on her and I couldn't be happier. At that time, the trick setup for the street was the HyperPro rear shock and spring that were matched to my riding weight and style, progressive front springs and cartridge emulators...
Tightened the side stand (again - used Lock-Tite this time  ), changed lube in the rear end and gear box. I was going to change oil as well but the filter wrench decided it did not want to remove the filter today. I'll try again on Monday since it's supposed to be raining a bit here...
I know this thread is a bit old but I though I'd throw in my $0.02.
I've had Todd do all the work on my bike that I didn't want to do since I got it, including a suspension upgrade and fixing the fueling issues.
The work being done on the bike this time is the first time mine has been worked...
