Weird tire wear pattern - anybody want to read the tea leaves?

Agree they look worse than mine...but it's hard to read tea-leaves based on pictures of them ! Mine (Griso) has some scalloping, but no deep stuff like yours looks...

Weird tire wear pattern - anybody want to read the tea leaves?

👍we all ride harder when we can see more around the corners !

Weird tire wear pattern - anybody want to read the tea leaves?

If it helps UK motorbikes always wear a flat bit on RIGHT-HAND side of the tread (& mine always go scalloped as well).....reason for LHS in your case (RHS in UK case) extra wear is that road camber, roundabouts etc all put more pressure on the LHS of the tyre on average.

    Guzzi engine and trans case

What John says.....unless (for vanity/looks reasons) you want to take engine completely to pieces and get the parts vapour/media blasted; and even then I would never put new paint (or powder coat) on the clean surfaces as they are easier to keep fresh if they don't have coatings on them (it's...

The state of my engine internals - need some feedback here!

In case it helps here are pictures from 16k miles V65 florida as comparison....(replaced rings as they were corroded in solid after 18 years in wet air). Hopefully you can see the honing marks on bores to compare with yours - mine are good.

    Guess who's back 🤪 V50 Running on 1 Cylinder

The new coils (in your pic) should bolt in same place old ones came from. I've had bad experience with cheap replacement resin coils like these and have melted out a couple (and put in better narrow metal lucas ones that need 'custom' fitting) BUT as John says the CDIs are main weak points....

    Wheels

Here's the parts I bought when I switched from wire to cast on my 2009 Griso 8V. and discs (I think disks are same between SE GRISO & cast wheel Griso - I bought new disks just to have two sets of wheels I could easily switch)

    Wheels

You need a different front axle for the cast wheels - can't remember part numbers but probably a Norge front axle (for cast wheel) would work

    New headlight bulb

Yes - best result (& wish I'd done that with Griso instead of fitting LEDperf complete lamp) because it kept classic looks but boosted light a lot w/out eating current on small block tiny generator output.

    New headlight bulb

For V65 Florida & V50 Mk3 I'm using these to make it brighter than a std H4.......although TBH I also fitted a cheap ebay LED in the side/running lamp socket in headlight shell & that's so bright I only use the headlamp at night (they are 1985 & 1989 vintage bikes so not hard wired for daylight...

    New headlight bulb

I think the french company you are refering to is LEDperf..... I have one of their headlamps & (some bits of) outer ring from their std shell. It took some 'engineering' to fit in Griso headlamp shell; the light is OK but wouldn't say it's great at lighting the road ahead but it's fine bright to...

    Stelvio 1200NTX help

Like Todd says it could be loads of things that experts will quickly investigate & rule in/out BUT if you're going to try fixing it yourself I'd start by checking the plug caps - they are notoriously weak & easily damaged if you 'just pulled' them off (& then damage can make HT break down under...

I read that Motorcycle Action group will do 'no pass no fee' for ULEZ testing & no fee for retests.

V50 mk2 Running on 1 cylinder Please help please

The 'timing plate tool' is just a premarked insert to simultaneously do both the pickup gaps & pick up alignment statically in one; instead of going through the 'manual process' using feeler guages & lining up the flywheel marks/pick up alignments individually (so it isn't critical). BTW You...

V50 mk2 Running on 1 cylinder Please help please

In case it helps I just had same problem on a V65 Florida I've restored. Initially the Motoplat pick up & CDI had failed on LHS so NO SPARK (LHS worked if I switched pick up wiring & CDI across). New pick up (easy to fit, one place to position it & no adjustment possible) & new CDI (new one from...

    '78 V50 find for a newbie

Basically you start with some thin steel paper/binder clips (see in picture how they look 'before'). Angle grind them apart to make two thin sheets of flat steel plate; mark out the plates - so they fit the profile of the plastic (& the missing bits) lugs; mark out the centre point for the 16mm...

    '78 V50 find for a newbie

Sidepanels are easily fixed with gauze wire/plastic body filler/epoxy glue. For broken lugs I found best solution was to make steel inserts from old (large) binder clips.....and once fixed, only pull the lug when removing the whole panel ;)

Fork crossover pipe V65 SP 1984

It's to equalise air pressure when you pump a little air into the fork oil-pneumatic damper units (if they are still working !). Assuming it's the same as mine (V65 Florida pictured); then the nipple to connect the pipe to is about 4.3 mm at the narrowest bit & 5mm ocross the ridge at start...

Clutch replacement and input shaft seal replacement

Yes, easier if the gearbox isn't on the engine but on engine can be doable with some fishing and depending how 'free' the pushrod is in the seal - part 21 inside rear of clutch cover. Good to check by moving in and out the clutch bearing end & rod separately to 'feel' where stiffness may be...
  20. Paul Brice

Clutch replacement and input shaft seal replacement

Agree with John, adjustment of the clutch arm is critical (and quite a tight range needed to avoid running out of rear lever travel); and often 'stiff clutch' is just stretching the cable if the lever is fully in ;) Only other things that come to mind are the assembly sequence of the pushrod...
