    Coil mount, LMI

I have a dual-plug LMI with a Dyna and Andrews coils, which haven't been made since Nixon was sweaty on B+W TV. One has gone bad which prompted me to buy Dyna coils. Whose mounting tab orientation is 90 degrees off from the old ones, rendering the existing hardware useless. So. Somebody out...

8v tank/OPS: Hot tips for the unmechanical?

Groovy. So far I've discovered that: One of the rubber tank supports was overtorqued by somebody, and the only way to take the tank off was to destroy it. There go 12 bucks. The little star washers (name?) that hold the fairings together are crap and like to fly off to god knows where...

8v tank/OPS: Hot tips for the unmechanical?

Thanks, OFS. The crickets in here were deafening. Unfortunately, the headers on the 8V appear to be paired permanently, so it would mean yanking much if not all of the exhaust. I'm going to try and get at it from above.

    Speedo Sensor Fix

I remember being told that this part had been redesigned? True? Not academic, my third (!) one is shot and needs replacing so I need to know if I have to waterproof it prior to installing. And one of the allen heads is stripped. Yay.

8v tank/OPS: Hot tips for the unmechanical?

Why the hell is it that working on cars doesn't scare me, but my bikes do? I just did the coolant pump/aorta/thermostat/fan belt on a Boxster. PITA, but no trepidation. Maybe it's because it's not likely to kill me if I get it backwards. Anyway, I want to get my Guzzis back on the road. As...

    8V Failure info.

Soo....shattered a leg a couple years ago, long convalescence/rehab, then back to work, hard, found a house bought a house sold a house lost a job, whatever, then pretty much the instant I got back on the bike it started spewing oil from a cyl head. Fog bank. Shocked I didn't drop it. This...

    Oh Luigi, now WTF?

Hey no need for apologies. I am unashamedly grateful that you take the time to post here and do so much to help the handicapped like myself. You do more to make life with Guzzis workable than Guzzi ever does. Piaggio oughta send you a check every so often. So let me be clear. It was drip...

    Oh Luigi, now WTF?

Weeel, Pete, to my little brain oil dripping = oil flowing. A loose connection or crap seal seems vastly more likely than any drastic interruption in flow. Believe me, if I felt that was the case, it's park and tow, now. Let's hope that's the case. And BTW it was only noticeable as it happened...

    Oh Luigi, now WTF?

Sometimes it can seem that owning a Gooz is a bit like having a 19-year old redheaded bisexual girlfriend. Erratic, and uncertain, too. Today the bike decided to...run and shift better than ever. And it developed a nasty metallic clatter from the LH cylinder head. And an oil leak, from the LH...

Finally Moving to the Area - Help Needed!

You get squared away? No expert, but you never know. I do say this: Under NO circumstances let your shadow darken the doorway of the shop near Winchester. Life, limb, wallet, sanity, all will be forfeit.

    Early Le Mans, further fixin'

Right. So the front end of my 78 Le Mans feels like a hobby horse if I hit any surface irregularities whatsoever. Especially in corners. Damn near unsuspended up front. Rear's not too bad. I think. Rustyass Konis. Here's one reason: Me, my skivvies, leathers, and the change in my pocket add up...

78 LM running rough, and it's my fault. But what did I do?

78 LM running rough, and it's my fault. But what did I do?

Re: 78 LM running rough, and it's my fault. But what did I d Sorry guys, work work work. Appreciate the interest. It's a great US Raceco motor. Absolutely everything in the guts blueprinted, fancy, Ti. Manfred Hecht built it. Dyna. Four plugs. 40's. The bike runs great...when it's not...

78 LM running rough, and it's my fault. But what did I do?

My 78 LM is the bomb. love it. Want to be buried on it, except that would cheat the next generation, and that'd be wrong. I redid the fuel hoses and filtration. I redid the 4 spark plug cables and cleaned up the coil connections. Also redid the starter connection after I let all the smoke out...

    G11-003 map.

I propose we re-categorize the Piaggio 'Customer Care' dickheads from 'Public Relations' to 'Public Alienation'. Much more truthful, that. Oh and BTW, doesn't Piaggio know who each and every one of us are? Why aren't they advising us of the existence of the map and inviting us to come n git...

    Get up, Stand up.

Many of us are having LOTS of issues with our modern Guzzis. I'm encouraging you to bitch, bitch, bitch to Piaggio. Enough noise will get heard. To that end, I'm going to start publishing my correspondence with Piaggio. Below is the text of today's note to their distinctly uncaring Customer...

    Griso dash, RRRR!

The dreaded red triangle of death is up on my instrument cluster, big SERVICE down at the bottom. No speedo. Will the speed sensor failure alone do this? No other idiot lights, bike runs better than ever. I'd appreciate your suggestions on troubleshooting this as the nearest dealers are...
