Evap removal from a new V7 II

Ok, I will get rid of the rest of that crap this afternoon. I rode many years without an evap canister on any bike, and the folks at CARB can kiss my fat white butt.

Evap removal from a new V7 II

I found the evap canister broken on my V7. It is under the tranny, behind the oil pan. The bike would not idle, and and would go from 0-6k rpm before it would die. I cut the line to the manifold, and stuck a bolt in it to stop the vacuum leak, and after letting it run for a bit it has smoothed...

What fuel to use in a 2013 V7

I have used regular gas from name brand stations in my V7 stone eith no ill effects. Gas mileage stayed about the same.

prepping for a passenger on v7 II stone

Putting on an Airhawk pad is a cheaper alternative. I use one for me, an the same one could be used for the pillion as well. It is the small pillion pad, 9x11 inches. the secret is to run it with just a tiny amount of air, do not overfill it, and it works like a charm. Beats sending out your...

    Black luggage rack recommendations

It attaches and removes from a plastic plate that looks very much like the Givi system. Turn the key, press a button and it lifts off. The plate remains on the rack, and is black. it is Emgo 72-32440. I used cable clamps and stainless hardware to mound it instead of the bars and cheap hardware...

    Cheap LED lights

They are 10 watts, and claim 750 lumens. They are very bright, and I am pleased with the purchase.

    Black luggage rack recommendations

I went one step further, and added HB bags and side case racks. Also added Lafranconi Competizione mufflers. Found a new set for 425.00 and could not resist. Top case is an Emgo, and it holds my xxl helmet just fine. It won't fit in the side cases.

Larger Manual? and supplemental tool kit.

I bought a set of wrenches from Harbor freight, and put the 17, 15, 13, 12, 10 and 8mm in the kit. I also put in 10, 6, 5, 4, 3mm Allen wrenches. I added a small pair of Vice grips, some electrical connectors, and a few fuses. It took packing it right to get it to fit under the seat, but I feel...

V7 Registry & Picture thread -- ADD YOUR BIKE

I have it very close to how I want it now. The LED lights are not in this picture.

    Cheap LED lights

I added a set of cheap LED lights to the forks on my V7 Stone. I put them on mainly to be more visible, and I think they accomplish that. Total cost for lights and brackets from Ebay was around 50.00, and I made up the harness myself that has a relay that turns the lights on with the key. I...

    2013+ head guards?

I have a set of the MG cycle crashbars, and they do not add vibration to my bike. They were the least expensive of all the ones out there and do not look bad on my bike. It's a two piece design, and pretty minimal. Not the type that goes around the cylinder and head, just stick out enough to...

2011 V7 Classic Intermittent Engine Light and running rough

Could be the spark plug boot. Not firing all the time due to a poor connection. Pull on the cap and see if it comes off easily. If it does, trim the plug wire a couple of cm, and thread the cap back on. Mine was doing the same thing, and this solved the problem for me. The cap threads on, it is...

Strange slipping feeling from transmission or clutch?

Glad to hear it isn't the clutch. At what RPM do you encounter this hesitation? Just curious, as I get a lot of "searching" by the ecu/injectors at lower RPM, but it seems fine above 4k. The driveability reminds me of early fuel injected BMW's lots of searching and surging at low RPM's. Do...

    V7 GPS connection?!

I understand that. My GPS does not charge when the power is turned off, so no drain on the battery. If I had one that did, I would most likely use that connection provided.

First Service - Check Engine Light

Cranking the engine with the spark plugs disconnected can be bad for the ecu and ignition system. If you want to crank and not start, plug the wires to the spark plugs while they are out of the head and ground them to the cylinder.

    V7 GPS connection?!

I just wired my GPS to the battery. Just have to remember to turn it off. I don't like molesting the original wiring on the harness.

Strange slipping feeling from transmission or clutch?

Does the engine rev but the bike not accelerate? I would hazard to guess that your clutch is slipping. Try accelerating in 4th or 5th gear at a low speed. if the engine revs, but the bike does not speed up, I would suspect the clutch is slipping.
