    Tell Us About Your Mods

I've got the heated grips and they are fine putting around town on a chilly day. I've gone for a couple of rides with a few guys recently and the temp on one ride was 33F and the other 35F (with a wet fog). I couldn't feel the heated grips and found that my new boots aren't insulated--couldn't...

What warranty work have you needed?

I assume that Lemon Laws apply to motorcycles too. There are lawyers who, I have heard, will take these cases for free (contingency?). I would look into it ASAP. I'm about to do it on my $60K truck.

    Oh No - Not Tires

I thought I had a lot of driveline noise. Then I decided a lot of the noise might be the tires. The slightest lean on the freeway would elicit a whine not there when upright. I switched the rear tire to a Metzler and the whine went away.

Ran the hills this weekend- now drive line noise

My Touring made a lot of "driveline" noise. After a few thousand miles, I thought it quieted down somewhat. Later I was driving on the freeway and decided that some of the "driveline" noise I was hearing was really the Dunlap tire making noise with any lean however slight. I replaced the rear...

Chrome care: Burned-in bug guts on my header pipes

After a trip to my dealer, there were what appeared to be burnt impressions of a rag the used to hold the headers while they were hot. On a return trip, they rubbed the header with 0000 steel wool which cleaned them. However, I would recommend using a detail spray to lubricate the header just...

What warranty work have you needed?

Luckily, I have not had a slippage problem. Good luck and keep us posted.

Mike, Oops, just reread the post a little above--never mind.

    Tell Us About Your Mods

Mike, I read somewhere here that the added heat shield doesn't protect from the cylinder head heat. What's the purpose other than you just like them?

    PC-V, AT300 & 7SM Flash...Rideability comes to the Big Block

Buz, I had a lean surge at a light throttle position on my old Cummins Dodge 3/4 ton for years. The dealer was completely baffled (and disinterested). Finally I found 3 letters in the Turbo Diesel Registry (a magazine devoted to that truck) describing the problem and a solution--bad ground on...

What warranty work have you needed?

Mike, I was just at my dealer's yesterday and had them check for recalls. There is one for the electrical system. MG wants a connector removed for some reason. I called him later and asked for him to check on the differential issue some are having.

What warranty work have you needed?

Hmmm, recalls? I've got to talk to my dealer. Anyone have a list of recalls on the Cali 1400T?

    PC-V, AT300 & 7SM Flash...Rideability comes to the Big Block

Nice writeup Touringman! However, I don't think your bike was running right when it was stock. Mine has a very smooth throttle from off/on. My Triumph America does have the problem you describe exactly (My dealer says it is norman!) so I know what you are talking about. My Triumph has a...

    2nd - 6000 miles service.

Mike, it was a small price to pay since the wheel had to come off anyway to change the tire.

I'd try to take it back to the store where you bought it. Explain that you can't make it work and Tom Tom has been no help. If they refuse to take it back (and if you paid for it with a credit card), call your credit card company and put the purchase in dispute. You'll probably have to write...

MJP, I had the same exact result on my OEMs.

    2nd - 6000 miles service.

Mike, I think to change the differential fluid, they have to remove the rear wheel--not that small a job--especially if the factory didn't grease the rear spline which makes the wheel hard to get off (mine was dry). I got a new tire just before my 6K service and, since the wheel was off anyway...

    California 1400 Reliabilty Opinions?

Sorry Roadventure, I was unclear. Both Davetac and I also have Triumphs and were discussing my Triumph America. However, I felt taken advantage of anyway. Don

    Newbie Question on California 1400

I've had my 1400 Touring for 1 1/2 years, but am not a super experienced rider. I've put 6-7,000 miles on it and have not experienced any wobble when cornering. The only time I had an odd response on cornering, the problem WAS low tire pressure.
