California 1100i - intermittent sqeaking front forks

Sourced the problem. Was not front forks at all. Noise was coming from rear and was caused by a too long bolt having been inserted to secure silencer and rear pillion footrest bracket. The bolt was coming into contact with swing arm occasionally and had caused a small groove. Reversing bolt and...

California 1100i 1996 model fuel pump noise

Managed to stop pump whine on my bike. Turned out to be a partially blocked fuel tap filter so pump was working extra hard to suck fuel through. As new taps were very reasonable I replaced both taps and noise has totally gone. Was going to replace fuel filter until I saw what a tight fit it was...

Manual fuel taps - Cali 1100i

New taps with filters fitted. Both allow fuel flow and pump whine totally gone. The new taps have a reserve setting so need to leave taps open on this setting to allow all fuel to be drawn by pump. Low fuel light works so not a problem - just need to re-fuel around 150 miles or so. Pleased with...

Manual fuel taps - Cali 1100i

Thanks for the input guys. Based on low cost on new taps I am replacing both as these also come with new "tower" filters. Cleaning the old ones cured the pump noise so decided to fit new taps especially as only £11 each and easy to replace as current fuel level low. Still not sure why one tap...

Manual fuel taps - Cali 1100i

My Cali fuel pump was making a lot of noise so had the tank off and fuel taps apart to clean crud off. Now virtually noise free. However, on inspection one of my manual fuel taps does not allow fuel through as one of the internal holes has been blanked off by the factory. The other is fine...

California 1100i - intermittent sqeaking front forks

Ideas please. Just covered 170 miles on my new (to me) 1100i California 1996 vintage. Noticed a squeak coming from front forks on uneven road surfaces (bumpy) but seem fine on smooth roads. Wasn't sure where the noise was coming from until I stopped and bounced them up and down. Bike rides fine...

California 1100i 1996 model fuel pump noise

Just acquired a lovely California 1100i and she goes really well and contrasts with my small block V7 Special. However, one thing is bugging me - constant noise from fuel pump. Pump is new (fitted by dealer I bought from) and makes quite a strong priming noise on initial switch on (which ceases...

V7 special rear suspension adjustment tip

No picture sorry. The screw is fitted to the bottom adjusting ring (to keep it in place when adjusted). It is a tiny grub screw and requires a very small Allen wrench to loosen/tighten. Mine was almost seized in its thread because it had been assembled "dry" without any grease on the threads. If...

V7 special rear suspension adjustment tip

The rear suspension units may be adjusted after a small grub screw is loosened. Even if not intending to adjust I recommend removing the grub screw with a small Allen key and greasing the threads before replacing. My screws were almost seized in place (on a fairly new bike) because no grease...

    V7 Special touch up paint

Can anyone advise where to purchase touch up paint for my 2014 model V7 Special. My bike is Anthracite Grey/silver colour. Cannot find a suitable match from any of the usual sources hence posting here. If Guzzi paint colour not available can anyone advise an exact car colour to match please? Got...
