Note to self: I will change my own oil next time. Geez!

Oil leak after 500 mile trip

Really disappointed to hear that MG roadside assistance is a $1,300 bill. That is just nuts and frankly unacceptable. I didn't read that fine print when I bought my bike and no one mentioned out of pocket costs. If you're low on oil, I don't see how this is an overfill situation. If it...

How good is the 1400 Cali's headlight?

Good watchout. This one that I used is same as stock 55W. I can't speak to the heat but I can say that I have used it for about 600 miles of driving without any problem.

PIAA 70325 Xtreme White H3 Replacement Bulb This is the one I purchased for $30.31 from Amazon.

    handlebar spacers

Something to consider: Based on the geometry of the risers, it looks like a spacer placed under the factory riser will mostly serve as to raise the height of the bars. But a spacer placed on top of the riser will serve mostly to move the bars back toward the rider. Because the riser is...

Mike, be aware that if you replace the brake line you will need to have a dealer do it because you will allow air into the ABS system and they need they need to electronically activate the ABS in order to bleed the air out of it.

Hey Mike. I just did the handlebar change myself last week following tips from Longrider (Thanks Longrider!). It worked out fine. Brake and clutch lines are tight and just barely long enough but they work. Sounds like your problem is you are trying to lower your bars into an unusually low...

    California 1400 Reliabilty Opinions?

He Little Don. I just stumbled across your post. I traded my 2012 Triumph America for my California Custom. I didn't own the Triumph for very long, only about 1200 miles. I loved it but it was my first bike and wanted to trade up. They were flawless miles and the throttle was always smooth...

How good is the 1400 Cali's headlight?

I don't know off the top of my head. But I know I saved the package (put the old bulb in there). I can reply in a couple of days with the answer. It's a big improvement.

How good is the 1400 Cali's headlight?

The stock headlamp bulb sucks!!! I replaced mine with a brighter whiter version and it made a big difference. And the bike as delivered had the headlight aimed way too low. It was at the lowest possible setting. I raised it higher and now the brighness and level are okay. But I still find...

    Guzzi Beginner Questions

Your engine is already broken in at 1000 miles. Just get it serviced and then rev it any way you want. You have about 2 gallons left in the tank when the light comes on. (yes it comes on very early). So you can probably go about 60 miles comfortably with a little bit remaining.

    Cruise Control

No errors. The cruise thinks the brake is being applied so it won't work. However, when you turn the cruise on by holding down the button for a few seconds, that part works. But it can't be activated because it thinks the brake is being applied.

    Cruise Control

I don't know about that. But check your brakes. I had an issue on my bike where the brake was slightly "on". I couldn't notice it, but the brake light was on, and the cruise control won't work when the brake is on.

That's good to know. True black chrome is not black at all. It is dark grey. I'm going to go with chrome. Unfortunately there are none in the US right now and they are backordered from Italy. Which would really suck for someone who had a crash and needed to replace the bars. Bike would be...

Has anyone tried to mount highway pegs?

The cables are routed to an electronic control box mounted on top of the gas tank. Seems odd that the cables couldn't be eliminated and the electronic control be right there on the handlebars. But for some reason they engineered it this way.

Rattely tappet noise? manufactured or historic?

Two other suggestions: 1) There is a dealer update to the fuel injection which will smooth out your idle a bit and reduce the vibration. 2) Check your exhaust header bolts too. My left ones were so loose that the clanking evolved to a loud exhaust leak. The nut was so loose I could turn it...

    Another Handlebar Post

Thanks Longrider for the info and photo! So I tried to order handlebars from AF1 racing and they informed me they had to be ordered from Italy and it would take 6-8 weeks. Anyone out there know any dealer in the US that has the touring bars in stock? I would prefer the chrome ones. I...

    Another Handlebar Post

Hey longrider. Can you elaborate on the install of the touring handlebars using the stock custom cables? Did you do this yourself and it was that easy? Can you elaborate on "Above the triple clamp". I'm not sure what that means. Can you post a photo of how you routed the cables?
