Anyone Own or Ride an XDiavel?

So just to update this thread, my current lust-over bike has been the new Triumph Speed Twin (NOT Street Twin) since I heard about it. 96 hp and 432 lbs dry. 270 degree parallel twin. There was a 2018 XDiavel demo for sale elsewhere for $3k off list but still about $6k over the Triumph. I...

Anyone Own or Ride an XDiavel?

So I've got the itch to get something lighter than the Cali 1400 Custom I currently have and the XDiavel is about 200 lbs lighter with 50+ more HP to boot. Win-Win. I'm curious if anyone with a Cali has ridden one that can offer some impressions between the 2. I'll try and get a test ride on...

    Oh No - Not Tires

Who's telling you that "it's gone" or is that your observation? I ask because I find dealers want to have you replace the tires when there's still plenty of life left in them from what I can see. Seems to me it's a quick-buck scheme for them - just my observation so far.

    Audace arrived this week

Follow the "Store" link at the top of the page I'd say.

Fogging Speedo - how bad before going for replacement?

Not that I've heard but might do more harm than good. It's not that bad for me to try.

The Cabot Trail in Cape Breton is closed to bikes so heads-up if you're headed that way: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/autos/autosmotorcycles/motorcyclists-banned-from-the-cabot-trail-after-protests-from-rvers-and-locals/ar-BBVt6Nq?li=AAggFp5 Edit … maybe not. Seems like it was an Aprils Fools...

    1400 Break In

^ interesting on the Nigusil. I wonder if Nikasil, which is used by many car manufacturers in lieu of cylinder sleeves was a copy of that? Or vice versa ... actually, just looked it up. Nikasil invented in 1967 by Mahle. Nigusil introduced by MG in 1979.

How to screw up an Oil change - 101

Don't laugh but I've actually thought of painting 1 side with white oil-based paint. Your solution works too though.

How to screw up an Oil change - 101

^ At my rate that's every 4 years or so lol. Paul, I don't see the type/grade of oil in the service manual or the black maintenance book. Got that and any tips like amount, etc.? Thanks.

No kidding ... off to check the service manual for procedures ...

How to screw up an Oil change - 101

Thanks Paul ... bike only has 11,000+ km so I suspect it's still early for that but good to know I can also do that.

How to screw up an Oil change - 101

Thought I'd share my experience doing my first oil change. Here are my notes I made for next time below. In the end it's a piece of cake. Took me longer than it needed to because after pouring in all 3 litres and checking the level BEFORE starting the bike I thought I overfilled it and had...

    Good people

That's above & beyond for sure but sometimes we're just looking for ANY reason to get out & ride!

How to screw up an Oil change - 101

I just took a look and it does look very easy and it turns out I've got a cap type removal wrench that fits already on hand. Assume the drain plug is at the rear? Looks like that's it. Did you even have to lift the bike at all? I may drive up onto a board or 2 to get the oil to the back...

How to screw up an Oil change - 101

Ouch! I've actually been considering doing the oil change myself on the California soon. Did you follow any guide somewhere Paul?

Possible to lower a California 1400??

Oh, maybe. Wonder why they'd get rid of that unless the Touring have always been unable to lower? Mine's a '14 Custom so I'll let someone else chime in.

Possible to lower a California 1400??

I've done it yes. Just turn the gear thing on the shock/spring assembly such that the spring is at it's shortest. Take a look and you'll understand.

Audace - fluttering noise from engineF

These engines/bikes make all types of noises so I'm not sure I'd ever be able to distinguish the clacking from the ticking from the fluttering from the chattering from the … well you get the idea. :)

    New tyres MGCT calibration

^ Yeah, surely the difference in diameter between a new same size tire and a worn one does not need this calibration done.
