I did a black wrinkle finish on the covers, and brushed the high spots. I ordered the unfinished plates, and I sanded down the machining marks and brushed the top surface to match. Looks much better than the stockers I think!
On the larger one with the head guard, is there a possibility of it having a "step" where the plate extends past the head between the spark plug and those 3 holes? Meaning that area could be thicker or thinner just to break up that area visually? After holding up the smaller cover to the head...

Hey Todd,
Just popping my head in to see if there's still interest in making this happen. I'm refurbing a set of used covers I found now, I'm committed. :-)
2013 Racer. Did the tail and gauge brackets, Mistral slip ons, mirrors, oil sump, removed the plastic Racer bits. Love this bike! Took a few shots while on my ride today.
I had a similar symptom happen to my bike when I first got it. I had the crazy bog/surge feeling on the way home. It was a plug wire cap. It was a loose connection, and I would go from running on one cylinder and then suddenly back to two. It had recently been serviced, and I'm guessing they...
I'd even be open to the idea of a nice metal insert that would replace the plastic one with the current valve covers. Not sure that's even possible with a friction fit as they're designed, but I just want to be rid of the plastic.
I'd be in for the #2 option, I like the idea of having a head protector. I'd likely be most interested in buying it without the valve covers, unfinished, as I'd like to try and source a used set first.
Hey all. Quick question.
I have the sump extender kit for the v7. I'm doing the install and haven't seen install instructions, so I'm not 100% sure which side of the filter the spacer goes. Can you confirm if it's on the engine side of the filter where there's the large rubber seal, or if it's...
