    Swingarm bearings.

Grease on Splines, Swing-Arm Bearings, or Shock Linkages is there to keep Moisture out, far more than for actual Lubrication. None of them rotate at high speed, or over much radial range, nor do they produce any heat, so pretty-much any Grease will do just fine. Use Yak's Fat if you have it...

    CARC and sidecar

I've posed this question on the 'Hacks' section on Adv Rider Forum, would be interested to hear opinions from here. The Outfits/Rigs like the Griso above, I love the Engineering and Fabrication involved in all the different Front-End arrangements, but I have to ask; At what point does an Outfit...

    Cooling Oil Circuit Thermostat.

For such a large Bike, there's not actually much 'spare' room on the Stelvio for mounting stuff. With all the different Hose Fittings available, you could fit it just about anywhere you wanted, within reason.

Is this a main oil seal leak?

Possibly, but you weren't sure in your original post, so I commented accordingly . . . 😉

Is this a main oil seal leak?

Gearbox Oil and Engine Oil will smell very different, with the former the more evil-smelling of the two. I'm not familiar with the Blow-By system on the Norge(s), but I believe it's similar to the Stelvios. A Hose from the Condensate Tank at the Headstock (where the Engine Breather Hoses go...

    CARC and sidecar

Hi Scott. I know that's an old post now, but do you mean you have (or had) a CARC Guzzi with a Sidecar, or is (was) it just the Ural Outfit. I'd be interested to see details of how a Car Wheel is fitted to the CARC Unit. I've never measured the PCD of the Hub, but I'd be surprised (happily...

    Piaggio .... what the ...?!

Maybe. I really don't see how they can do anything about Owners Groups (or similar), if they're not making money out of the name.

    Checking In

Don't Guzzi specifically advise against fitting a Sidecar to any of their CARC models? I'm sure I've seen it in an owners manual somewhere, and I've seen it mentioned in several Forums. Possibly just a case of corporate a**e-covering, but the CARC Swing-Arm does look a little under-engineered...

    Piaggio .... what the ...?!

Maybe worth starting an online petition? May do nothing, but costs nothing, and couldn't hurt, could it? You could put something in the wording to ask if those signing have cancelled orders for MG Bikes or other products because of this ruling, or been put off buying anything in future. As...

UFI OEM Oil Filter - 80mm 8-Flute Wrench Impossible to Find

My previous reply was from before I discovered the Filters with the 17mm Hex on the end, I use those exclusively now, so much easier. They also allow you to Wire-Lock the Filter, which is nice. HiFlo ~ HF171BRC K&N ~ KN170

Everything you ever wanted to know about the 1200 8V engine tappet failure but were afraid to ask.

How many miles since it was Rollerised? If it's done a good amount, say 5000+, I'd be fairly confident it's not going to be a risk. There is a chance if the Flats are left too long (after the DLC starts to break down), that particles of the Coating can get to the Bearing Shells, and cause...

    CARC and sidecar

I'd like to know how this guy is getting on with his Outfit. If anything is going to test the strength of the CARC/Swing-Arm Assembly, it's this, particularly with that Car Wheel and Tyre on it . . .

    How critical is it Gents?

The specified Weights aren't super critical either. Anything around the 80W mark will do, 70W-80 ~ 80W-90 ~ 75W~90 etc. No idea what weight my Gearbox or CARC Oil is, I've been using Mobil Jet II in both for over 18,000 miles now. :wasntme:

    While my CARC gently weeps...

You had a Boot failure SC? I thought I was the only one!! Happened to mine last Oct, in Spain, about 4 hrs into a 2-day dash from Lisbon to Caen. No idea what caused it, although I did hit a series of really bad ripples in the Tarmac at around 85mph. The CARC was at 52°C at the time (I have a...

Circlip for pad retainer on rear brake

Lost mine early-on in my ownership. It's a daft design really, so I just wire-locked it instead. I've since machine a replacement, from Stainless Steel Bar, Wire-Locked also. You could also drill it, and secure with an 'R-Clip', like most other Bikes (and cars) use.

    Oil pressure sending unit

The original Pressure Switch (it's not a Sensor as such, it's either 'on' or 'off') is still available. It's a generic unit used on thousands of Cars/Bikes. This is a list of Part Numbers. It's a direct replacement, original Connector plugs right in, no Adaptor required. If your Loom has been...

    GMG 2022: 7th to 11th September.

Will do. Was going to stop for a photo, but it just wouldn't do to have a white Fiat 500L rental car in front of it . . . Maybe I could just about get away with it if I was in this little beauty . . .

    GMG 2022: 7th to 11th September.

I'm currently staying just across the Lake from Mandello. Was in Agostinis on Thurs, didn't think to ask if they knew! I'll be popping back there before I leave hopefully, so I'll ask them.

    V100 Mandello Chat - H20

It had to happen eventually . . . 120bhp Water-Cooled Guzzi 'Sport-Tourer'. https://www.moto.it/news/moto-guzzi...MXPOaIWmWek48RsTHqmwosOk#!#Echobox=1629976372 Given their history of using the same Engine/Drivetrain in several models, dare we hope for an updated Stelvio/Griso/Sport?

    Cooling Oil Circuit Thermostat.

Most likely an O-Ring on the Cap/Plug part. Pop the Circlip and take a look. O-rings can be ordered by size, you'll just need to measure the Outer Diameter (O/D), and the Cross Section (thickness) of the ring. Double check by measuring the Bore it's in, and the diameter of it's groove.
