Alternative source for early 8-Valve Adjusters

As some may know already, the early 'coarse' thread Valve Clearance Adjuster Screws (M6 x 0.75mm pitch) are no longer available. The later type are M6 x 0.5mm pitch. I'd heard that KTM use the same type on some of their Engines, so I did a quick search. Third time lucky in my guessing which...

Cool Cover for Stelvios. Now fits all years.

I took my 2012 Rider's Seat to the Cool Covers HQ a couple of weeks ago. They had a Cover available previously, but it was designed around the Small Tank Seat design, so didn't quite work properly with the later type. The Central Strap fouled on the locating Lug of the Seat. They've redesigned...

    Dunlop Trailmax Meridian Safety Recall.

Just got this posted by someone on my FB Stelvio/V85 Wners Group. Not confirmed the source, but if you have the Tyre(s) fitted, it might be worth contacting the place you got them, or at least check the Tyre Batch Number. Admins, please move to appropriate place as you see fit.

    Bike Lift.

Got fed up with backache when doing various jobs on the Stelvio, so I did something about it. I've been meaning to make one for ages . . . The horizontal Arm slips into a small Cradle that's bolted on in place of the Centre-Stand. Long-travel 8-ton Bottle-Jack lifts the Carriage.

    Finished a few more mods . . .

Finished a few more mods on my Stelvio. Pleased how these turned out . . . 2004> R1 Cans. Homemade link Pipes, cross-over goes under a cut-out in the base of the Airbox. Sounds similar to the (de-catted) original Silencer, just a little louder, slightly more of a 'Bark' the higher the...

    MegaMoto, sneak preview . . .

YAAAAAAAY!! She's on her Griso Wheels at last! Sneak preview . . . 'SuperMoto Mudguard fitted. Painted the Forks, as they were a little bit shabby-looking.

    Aux Tank?

Bought a S/Hand 32ltr Tank a while back, with the intention of fitting it to my '09 at some point. Decided against it now, most of the other parts required are silly money, and/or 'unobtanium' used, plus you need to chop three brackets off the Frame, which I could do, but don't really want to...

    Flats . . .

Soooooooo. Just over 28000 miles (9200-odd with me). Is it the high ZDDP Oil I've been using, the Higher Oil Temps (Cooler covered in cold weather), or both? Or maybe they've been replaced before?

    'Greasable' Swing-Arm Shaft.

Someone over on another Forum was saying they'd like to be able to Grease their Swing-Arm Bearings without having to strip it all down. I had the same thought last year when I did mine for the first time. I put Nipples in the Links, but the design of the Frame sections around the Swing-Arm...

    Another little 'Mod' . . .

just about finished another Mod to my Stelvio . . . Bought a BMW Rear Shock for another (long term) project a while ago, it has both Compression and Rebound adjusters. When it arrived, I looked at it, then at my Stelvio, then back at the Shock . . . It's approx 13mm longer than the...

    Cooling Oil Circuit Thermostat.

I think I've mentioned on here before, that I'm planning on adding a Thermostat to the Cooling Oil Circuit on my Stelvio. Most, if not all, of the CARC Models are badly over-cooled. Mine would struggle to get the Oil above 70°C once the Ambient Temps dipped below around 10°C. I've had my Cooler...

    Interesting Outfit . . .

Came across this yesterday, did a double-take! Interesting layout, presumably to get the weight over the 'Chair' more ,and/or to get the Shaft at the required height . . .

    Don't Panic!

Not a new warranty issue, just a simple case of accident damage, but what a mess! Hit a parked vehicle with the L/H Cylinder apparently, but to rip the Engine Cases and Clutch Housing open like that! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Moto-guzzi-griso-2015-/252280251674?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276

    MegaMoto or StelliSaurus?

I've always liked Supermotos, had a Road-legal IT465 in the mid-80s, then a SuperMoto'd CR500. Then there was an early Triumph Tiger in Performance Bikes, one of their 'Reader's Specials' they use to feature each month years ago, thought it was one of the best looking Bikes I'd ever seen, it...

    Light mount options . . .

Been playing with the big LED Floods I bought a few weeks back, trying to decide where to mount them. I'm using a pair of these . . . Standard BMX Stem for 1" Bars (Stelvio Engine Bars are 1" dia). Cost less than £17 (US$26) for the pair. There are hundreds of different designs, lengths...

    'Racer pattern' Gearchange.

I always have a 'Racer pattern' Gear-change (1-up~4/5-down) on my Bikes, where possible. On most Bikes it's simply a case of flipping the Gearbox Shaft Lever over, or fitting a Lever directly onto the Shaft but obviously that's not an option on Guzzis. Had to do a bit more work . . . Pivot...

    DIY Pannier Straps.

Decided it was time to have some carrying straps for the Panniers on my Stelvio, got fed up with carrying them by the Latch Loops! I always opt for making stuff myself if possible. Got some inch webbing from B&Q (think Home Depot if you're in the U.S.), a length of Seatbelt, and some 3/4"...

    Couple of things to check?

Fitted some shorty levers to my Stelvio tonight. Pretty straightforward, other than having to make a replacement pushrod for the Clutch! Didn’t notice the locking Grub-screw under the accumulated Grease/dirt, so just ground out the locking adhesive, and unscrewed it. The threads were chewed, so...
