What warranty work have you needed?

I have changed my differential fluid three times and each time, after fully drained, I filled it with 200 cc of fluid. No leaks or issues. I think it best to use a measured amount of lube rather than relying on overflow port to measure it.

    Rear brake pad replacement.

Hey, it looks like my dyslexia has surfaced again. You have the correct part number Russell 639570. Nice catch, thanks for bringing it to my attention. I also see that I listed two bleeder nipples each for the front calipers, wrong, just one each. I'll fix it now.

    Rear brake pad replacement.

Yikes, it looks like I'm a year late responding to your question about front brake caliper speed bleeders. I guess I'm too late to party but maybe this entry might be helpful going forward. Enjoy. The answer is yes, THOUGH Piaggio hasn't made it easy for us. Here are the parts and sizes: Front...

    Steering Headstock Bearings Look Bad

Job completed two weeks ago but I've been riding so just now sharing the Zirk fitting installation. There is nothing to it, I used a silver Metric M8 grease fitting. I chose to mount it directly on the side so it would not be visible behind the front tank shroud. In the attached photograph...

    Steering Headstock Bearings Look Bad

Yes, water proof for sure. But isn't all grease water proof? Water and all oil products do not mix. I'll look into it though, perhaps water aversion is a property of various grease grades. To the point however, my lower steering spindle shaft bearings rusted because they were devoid of...

    Steering Headstock Bearings Look Bad

Further Update: I just spoke with Cory, technical support at NTN, the manufacturer of the original Headstock Bearing. Cory suggests staying with the original ball bearing arrangement over switching to tapered roller bearings. His reasoning is that roller bearings have higher coefficient of...

    Steering Headstock Bearings Look Bad

All right, here's a progress report on my experience with my Cali1400T headstock bearing replacement. - I've already posted about the condition of (specifically) the lower headstock bearings on my bike after 25K miles. - I pulled the races from the headstock with a (slightly) modified Harbor...

    Steering Headstock Bearings Look Bad

Touringman, You were the one that gave me the idea of upgrading my suspension. When you put the Matris fork springs in I would think you greased your headstock bearings. Care to share your observations about the condition they were in, ESPECIALLY the lower bearings!

    Steering Headstock Bearings Look Bad

At the 10,000 mile service I removed the top triple tree clamp, inspected, cleaned and lubricated the top steering shaft bearings. At that time the top bearing and race looked good and Moto Guzzi assembly line staff did install some lubrication, though a minimum amount. I did not remove the...

    All Balls bearing conversion

My rear drive wheel splines were pretty well lubricated, so I think I was hoping the same (conscientious) employee installed the swing arm. However, your point is well taken. Next chance I get I'll be looking. I just looked at the parts schematic and it looks like Moto Guzzi engineers used...

    All Balls bearing conversion

Paul D. I have not pressure washed a motorcycle since I was a teenager. I do invariably experience some rain while riding. Usually, if I'm only 10 miles from my destination I'll ride through it. The only thing I can say about use is that I ride this bike all four seasons when possible. Less...

At the 10,000 mile service I removed the top triple tree clamp, inspected, cleaned and lubricated the top steering shaft bearings. At that time they looked good and did have some lubrication, though a minimum amount. I did not remove the lower triple tree clamp to inspect or lubricate the lower...

    Nasty Fork Oil...

My experience with the Matris Cali1400 Fork Spring Kit Provided Fork oil: 10W, red color and they give you "just enough" of it to do the job, so, DON"T SPILL ANY OF IT! You might consider buying an extra liter of it (Motosport.com, $25 shipped to my door). Tip: When filling the fork tube with...

    Nasty Fork Oil...

Oh, yes. Right. Thanks John. I'm going to tackle this soon as my local weather forecast is rain for the next week.

    Nasty Fork Oil...

I realize that this thread is a year and a half old, perhaps it is because only a few members have installed this Matris Fork Spring Kit. In preparation to installing my kit I measured my 19mm open end wrench: it is 9mm thick. I went shopping, found a 7mm thick wrench and bought it. Will my new...

Piagio Steering Shaft nut tool (Piaggio tool # AP8140190) {Af1 racing $138.09} Or: Use a Craftsman 36mm DEEP socket from Sears and have it machined to provide the 4 prongs: Attached is an image of the tool I had a machinist cut. Inside the tabs measures 43 and outside measures 48 - The tabs...

    Rear brake pad replacement.

I just replaced the rear caliper brake pads this past weekend on my 2014 Cali Touring. John is spot on with his description of the procedure. In my case I also replaced the back tire so my wheel was out. However, I've found that to get the rear wheel off the motorcycle I always remove the...

Has anyone tried to mount highway pegs?

I've been using mine for the past 20,000 miles and they are working well for me. Of course I don't stand on the highway pegs, just put my feet up there when my knees need some straight time. BTW, I'm 5.11" with 32" inseam and I get my feet around the cylinder heads and onto the pegs. As you...

    C14 - Stop the moaning whale - Tip/Evap

I'm not sure why Todd recommends full tip valve removal, he didn't give a reason. I just removed the guts and snapped it back together (a hair dryer was helpful) with great results. Either solution should give the same end result.

    Cal 14 Alt Wiring Recall/Mod

Nick, just pull the black plastic connector off the alternator, now that the wires have been cut, you'll have it in your hand. Go to your bench with good strong lighting. Using an ice pick, or very small flat bladed screw driver, or better yet, a GM WeatherPack tool (available at your favorite...
