    Oh No - Not Tires

I've had Avons on other bikes - actually other Guzzis. I won't doubt that they're perhaps a bit better than the ME880, but since the Avon was built as a direct competitor to the ME880, using precisely the same build plan, and having read everything about them, I'm also guessing they're not...

    Oh No - Not Tires

So, lemme get this straight. You've had guys put a set of Michelin Commander II's in 180/65/16 on the rear with good results? No need for recalibration of anything? (forget speedo, who cares). And the only difficulty was in getting the thinner tire to bead on the rim? Will my ape mechanic be...

    New Matris Cal 14 offerings

Todd -- received M40D's and fork spring upgrade kit and sent it all to my tech last week. Winter here and his book was empty so able to deliver the bike back to me yesterday. Luck would have it, it was 60 degrees when I picked up the bike and had the rare chance to ride the Cali around quite a...

    Avons after 9000+ miles...

Nice to hear the quality reports of the Avons. They are underrated, I used them on my last Guzzi with total satisfaction. On this one, I scrapped the OEM Dunlops with 5k miles on the clock, perhaps w/another 1K I could have gotten out of them. didn't like 'em much, like many others. Went with a...

Ran the hills this weekend- now drive line noise

Just adding that I have similar noises, slightly worse as bike gets hot. Glad to hear I'm not alone and yes, I'll chalk it up to straight cut gears and Guzzi character. :) Bike is truly marvelous. Going to be another guzzi classic that won't sell but be beloved by a few nuts. Count me among...

Cali 1400 Touring Air Deflectors ... Do they work?

I just installed these and they solved the buffeting problem (which was really bad) by 80%. Big win for $120........... Also send a nice stream of air around the chest and shoulders from underneath, a welcome relief in the summer. very high value upgrade.

Fitting an NTX Handguard Kit onto California Touring

For $120, get yourself the heated grip kit -- installs easily with the already integrated switch gear on the back of the left handgrip. that'll keep your mitts warm and won't screw up the looks..........

    Clunk in Forks over bumps

Final UPDATE - Tech found loose steering head bearings. He did not think it was worth the labor to install the tapered bearings, saying it would add another 3-4 hours of labor, pressing in the races etc......... Retorqueing the bearings to spec fixed the problem, and I was charged for 2 hours...

    Clunk in Forks over bumps

OK - and it is new. And from the lack of confirmation, it sounds like my issue is a rare one in this model. Still, the bearings were $40, and as long as he's got the tops off the forks to change oil or check it, he might as well open up the steering head to upgrade the bearings too. It can't...

    Clunk in Forks over bumps

Thanks guys, I've ordered a set of tapered steering bearings from ALL BALLS racing thru MG Cycle -- I'm afraid that changing out the bearings is a bit over my pay grade. Oil changes and fluid checks, ok -- disassembling the front end, uh, no. the bearings are cheap enough, it won't be so...

    Clunk in Forks over bumps

I'm sorry, you're not being clear. Are you saying the noise went away with a firmer retorqueing of the head bearing? Or, it came and went without a reason? Or, a changeover of bearings is the ultimate solution?

    Clunk in Forks over bumps

I've got a '14 Cali 1400 Touring with 5K miles - I've test ridden other bikes with this problem, most notably a demo K1600GT, so this isn't a slag on MG tech - but I've got a clunk over every small edge or low speed pot hole. I've searched around the internet, and causes run the gamut of...
