New V9 Bobber on the way - couple accessory questions

Did you get it from Sloan's? Can you post some pics of the accessories when you pick it up? Mine is going there for first service in a few weeks and I am thinking about the screen....

Detonation (spark knock, pinging, etc) when hot

I run nothing buy US 93 octane in mine and have had no pinging issues even at 90F degrees. But, definitely don't lug the motor at those temps- let it rev a little. Overall, this bike seems to run much cooler overall than my previous 2004 Bonneville.

V9/V7 III fuel mileage and range (discussion and please post yours)

I am also averaging an overall 54 mpg. Calculated manually = ECU reading, which is mighty convenient!

    V9 Opinions

Hate to see this- its exactly what mine did. Pull the little rubber plug over the breather and see if there is oil underneath. Mine was supposedly overfilled at the factory and checking the level is not part of PDI apparently. My problem has not reoccurred after the dealer reduced the oil...

    V9 Clunk Noise

John- mine is exactly the same way. With increased revs, the clutch seems to make the secondary clunk less. My first gear is the same as yours. I had to adjust my clutch lever up a bit to be able to comfortably get my boot underneath and the more relaxed angle made all shifting much easier.

    V9 Opinions

Post pics when you can! It was my experience that the gearbox really starts to smooth out after 200 miles or so. The pipes will get a bit louder as well to cover that clutch noise while in N. I got to put about 60 relaxed B-road miles on mine yesterday in perfect weather and it was sublime...

    V9 Bobber tire pressure?

I am just curious what other folks are running as far as tire pressure goes on the V9B? I discovered that my pressure gauge was leaking and reading low, so I went from a true 32 F/R to 38 F/R and it was a huge improvement in turn-in and tracks so much more consistently through the tuns...

Final Drive Gear Oil Leaks V7 & V9

Bike has been ridden 120 miles since the rear-end oil was set to correct factory specs. I have not seen any evidence of leaking. Although I feel a little silly for assuming the worst upfront, better to have it straightened out under warranty than taking a chance. But, I am l glad it was...

V9 Bobber new owner, early impressions.

Official word on my V9 - overfilled rear drive from the factory. No other problems were found and its got about 40 miles on it so far and no leaks of any sort.

Final Drive Gear Oil Leaks V7 & V9

Picked the bike up yesterday and put just a few miles on it last night before the rains came. No additional leakage seen yet. The dealership cleaned everything up, then rode a few miles until they saw some oil. They took the back wheel off and traced the oil leak to the breather. They said...

    V9 Opinions

Todd, I think you are dead-on about it. I think that they would sell all they can make if they reduced the MSRP to 8995. I bought mine new and surely didn't pay MSRP. I found a dealer that wanted to move the bike and was willing to discount. The V7 Stone going for $5995 some places was the...

Final Drive Gear Oil Leaks V7 & V9

It's been at the dealer since last week. Actually, per my insurance, roadside assistance, ie towing, is available no matter where the bike is parked, if it is immobile for mechanical or safety concerns. So, they towed it the 110 miles to my dealer without complaint. I have not yet been able...

    V9 Opinions

I am 43- is that young by Guzzi standards? I did not like the V9 at all in photos, but when I saw it in person and sat on it, it made sense. Especially in the context of the current retro competitors like the new Bonneville range, Ducati Scrambler, and Sportster. Yes, its a little more...

    V9 Opinions

MG has posted pics of the new 2018 V9s showing the new seat(s) and control position. Looks like the seat is just the Comfort solo seat and Pillion seat. Controls are definitely moved back.

V9 Bobber new owner, early impressions.

My V9B is on its way back to Sloan's. Fortunately, Progressive roadside assistance has Sloan's listed as the closest available authorized service center, so the tow is taken care of. I will certainly let everyone know what the outcome is, though I suspect it could be awhile if this is a...

V9 Bobber new owner, early impressions.

Well, it seems that I am one of the lucky ones with the leaky rear drive on my V9. Just over 100 miles and less than 2 weeks of ownership. Oh well, I knew this sort of thing going in and it appears to be a straight-foward fix. I just wish the dealer were closer. I must say, though, I love...

Final Drive Gear Oil Leaks V7 & V9

Is it possible that the rear drive is not venting correctly? This was the longest, warmest ride I have been on by far. I noticed that the V7 has a vent at the top of the rear drive and my V9 has a flush-fitting rubber plug. Is there a vent underneath the plug? It looks better but seems like...

    V9 first service

Reading through the manual, it appears that the first service on the V9 is a little different that what's been done in the past on the V7. I am posting this just as a sanity check as my eyes are not what they used to be and the Guzzi-chosen 3-pt font for the manual is just a little hard to...
