V65Sp right cylinder, head, piston, valves, rings, etc. needed

As it turns out, I did exactly that. I bought a small block cylinder and head from Curtis Harper in Missouri. Now, we are trying to get everything to work together on my V65Sp.

VIN# ZGUPGBPG2EM100123 This bike has been out of commission for almost 4 years now. The changes made to it include steel luggage rack, American style grease zerks on the speedometer sending unit, and redesigned starting circuit that eliminates the handle bar starting button and the starter...

    Hi from Finland!

My V65Sp ate a valve on New Year's, 2020. The right head and cylinder have been replaced, and the bike is s-l-o-w-l-y being made roadworthy again. I hope to put some miles on it in 2024. Meanwhile, I have my 1964 BMW R69S and 1956 Harley KHK to enjoy. BTW, the Guzzi now has removable fabric...

V65Sp right cylinder, head, piston, valves, rings, etc. needed

The head and cylinder are toast. I apologize for not responding sooner.

V65Sp right cylinder, head, piston, valves, rings, etc. needed

Returning from a New Year's run, my V65Sp started running on one cylinder, vibrating, and making a horrible sound. Somehow, the exhaust valve head had separated from the stem. Then, the piston started demolishing the right cylinder and everything in it. The bike now needs a replacement cylinder...

Small block Registry & Picture thread

This is a wonderful bike. The only reason I went with the V65Sp is because I needed a bit more torque for long trips with luggage through mountains and cities. If it were just me and the machine, I should have chosen the V50.

The 1st photo shows me and my V65Sp on an Easter Basket Run for a school for mentally handicapped children. The 2nd photo shows the V65Sp and me outside my law office before I closed it. My goal now is to do more Scouting, farming, and riding.

V65Sp center stand replacement or repair

Thank you for the suggestion. I started with R&K. The "R" part of "R&K" is my brother Ron Tinkham. He has not found what I need yet.

V65Sp center stand replacement or repair

The center stand on my 1984 V65Sp has worn stops and has telescoped on one side. I never ride it when there is salt on the road, but 31 years of riding in the rain may have caused enough corrosion to weaken the legs of the center stand. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where I might get a...

    Oil

For decades, I have used 15W40 diesel engine oil in my 1984 V65Sp. I do not abuse it, but do ride it long miles at a good clip (~6,000 rpm) and have had no need to work on the engine. It works for me.

Small Block oil - 10w60 in older bike

I use 15W40 engine oil designed for diesel engines. I have ridden the bike for over 31 years and cruise at ~6,000 rpm. The only work on the V65Sp's engine has been annual valve adjustments. This seems like an ideal approach to engine lubrication.
