    Piaggio Shuts Down www.world-of-guzzi.de

Piaggio are far from alone in moves to control user oragnisations. Harley and BMW are much further along this road. It's a normal business move these days, open sources and user criticism is "off message".

    Newbie from the UK

Welcome You have the bike I want but can't afford. I am running a Jackal and a Targa 750. I live at the other end of the country in Kent not too far from Dover.

1979 v50 II catastrophic engine failure.. your thoughts?

I would question why it needed extensive work at only 6000 miles. Including seals and oil pump, it suggest previous problems and poor solutions. I could be wrong of course, but the rule that you always look at previous work first for causes, IMO usually solves 90% of problems. I once bought a...

Do I own a real Guzzi

Those idiots were not just rude, but ignorant about Guzzis. The 750 racer's engine has been in production for a very long time. The changes from the old V50 and later 750's are natural developement, not radical alterations. I saw the prototype Breva 750 at the factory in 2002. I have two old...

    V7 Racer production number

I am not a fan of the Racer either. IMO it is a bit of a sheep in wolves clothing. I run a Targa 750, which in someways is similar, with cafe racer styling, without the power. It is an effective light tourer, but a real cafe racer? Na. It is mainly the numbers plate I don't like on the racer...

    Classic alloy tanks

Correct, my 2001 Jackal has an exterior pump, with the filter under the tank too. My previous bike to that, a 96 Cali 1100i, was the same. The filter is a real pain to change. Both had a pressure relief valve under the front of the tank.

    Hello from Hastings

Hi, I am about 40m away in Chatham, with a 2001 Jackal and a 1991 Targa. Kent and Sussex seems to be a Guzzi hot spot. I tested a Norge, great bike. Check the MGCGB forum and the Kent Branch section, there are regualr meetings.

    preparing for a long ride

If you are doing a really long ride, more than 2 or 3 days, programme in a rest day. personally I do it ever 3rd day. Since iIretired my touring tends to be for a couple of months rather than weeks. I found that riding 3-400 each day for more than 3 days gets very wearing. I normally choose a...

    rent motorbike in UK?

http://www.robinsontuning.co.uk/ This place rented Guzzis in Glasgow, not sure if they are till trading. Other than that it's the dark side only I am afraid.

    Anyone from darn sarf?

That implies that they knew in the first place. I lived in London for years, a good place to learn bike survival skills.

    Thank Christ for that!!!

They also had little relevance to real world riding or the European market. Guzzi sell most in Europe, and the models that sell best are 750s and retros there. What they need is to rework the 750 engine and produce a tourer based on that. A lot of people are altering the 750 classic to make a...

    2012 Model first glimpse

I would agree with most of what Pete said. I have ridden an 8V on a long test, IMO it is a great engine. I don't like the 2 bikes shown, not because of the change of ownership, but from individual taste. The Cali looks a bit boxy and I don't like the style much. I will not buy a new Guzzi that...

What do you think of this fairing idea?

I vote for the 1st one too. Always liked that sort of fairing, I had something similar on a BMW R100S, pretty effective too.

    Belgian Rallies

We are looking for a treffen. Not an English word, we use "rally" for the same thing, but practcially all UK rallyists know what Treffen means.

    Belgian Rallies

Sorry mate, we have been to Lopem every year for about 9 years, we will probably be back some time. It's just a matter of wanting something new. No complaints about the Tententreffen, it's a good rally.

    Belgian Rallies

My small local club has decided not to do the Tententreffen in Belgium this year, I have been asked to find another rally there about the same time of year, towards the end of May. Can anyone help with that?

    Italy to Greece ferries

The proposed trip is now off. I just had to pay for a new heating system and don't have the cash anymore. It is still something I want to do maybe next year. Thanks for the advice.

    Anyone from darn sarf?

I come from Chatham, N. Kent. I have a new to me bike I still haven't riden, too much snow and ice. Hopefully in January.

    New member from Denmark

I found the same, I was unable to register my Targa. It's about -5 here and snowing hard. Fortunately I'm retired so I can stay in, it looks nice from inside, but I'm glad I don't have to struggle to work. Welcome, we have spoken on other forums, I have already found your knowledge of SBs useful.

    Winter's here

Lots of the UK is covered in snow, salting and gritting everywhere. No snow yet where I live in the SE Corner. It's about a month early this year, temeratures a little higher than the Netherlands but not much.
