    Clutch slippage or fuel problem?

The carbs are synced with twin max and I recheck with vacuum gages while I had the sync tubes on. No leaks and I peaked in the timing cover hole and it looked dry. The carbs were rebuilt last summer and it has been a constant effort to get power and smoothness out of the thing. I am running a...

    Clutch slippage or fuel problem?

I think my 94 Cali (carbureted ) is in good tune, the plugs are picture text book perfect. After I warm the bike up if I flog it in 4th especially 5th gear, after I have reached 4000rpm the clutch can slip and over rev. Now if I ride it like a sane human, I don’t seem to have that condition. Now...

Clutch replacement 94 California 1100 help!

My clutch is slipping when I wick it up past 42-45 hundred rpms in 4th and 5th gears ,it will rev straight up to redline after the bike is good and warmed up. My question is, does crabbing the frame work with this bike, it being a Tonti frame? Has anyone used this procedure with a big block...

Do I follow the owners manual

I have been using 10-40w synthetic but just wanted to know if the other oil options would be better because I do ride when the ambient temp is 100 F. At those temps I wandered if 20-50, or 60w, would be better and ok run when the temps are more normal 60- 80* ambient.

Do I follow the owners manual

I am about to fill my 94 calli with engine oil. My owners manual says to use 10-40 synthetic, my question is, is it better to use a 20-50 or 60 synthetic? Or is everybody going by the book? My 83 HD Shovelhead calls for 20-50w but at the time the manual was printed , there was no 20-60w to be...

    California valve adjustment

Noise valves are happy valves, you may get some extra performance but it is not worth the potential damge you may do to the engine by making them too tight.

    Larger fuel tank ?

Thanks for your input guys, I will have to look closer at everything. My Cali is carburated, and if the air box is in the way could I just modify or remove the air box and put filter pods on the carbs?

    Larger fuel tank ?

I would like to increase my range on my California 1100 and I was wondering if a fuel tank from a 1976 convert would mount on my bike, It would hold almost 2 gallons more fuel than the stock tank. I was thinking that since it is a Tonti frame it would work with minimal adjustments, other than...

    Need help with carb jetting

Thanks John for the help. The parts are in and has made a big difference . The bike is not as responsive or as quick but that is ok with me. The bike is smoother and a lot more civil. I will continue to play around with some different combinations to see if it can be improved from here.

    Need help with carb jetting

The bike is 1994 Cali 1100 with 36D Dellorto carbs, The bike starts and seems to run well, plenty of power and will go faster than I want to take it. My problem is it is not smooth. The timing mark shows clear and steady about 2 degrees below the notch in the inspection window. I can’t change...

    Do I have a problem?

Thanks guys, I used the link to mgcycles and they had the springs and fuel accelerator pumps in stock and I ordered them. Once installed we will see if that will cure my problem. I stumbled across a company that deals with Dellorto carbs and sells all the parts to them but mainly for Ducati...

Thanks guys for the conformation on the valve setting I will leave them where they are at 0.10mm and 0.15 mm. I will go back in and try Steve’s suggestion and compress the oil out of the cam followers and then reset the valves. I have another issue that maybe you guys can help me with but I...

    California 1100 valve adjustment confusion

My bike was bought and brought over from Europe. The owners manual says to set the valves at .010 and .015 with an asterisk, USA version .05 and .010. Why the difference? The valves have been set at first setting and the valves are very loud banging away. Does anyone know the proper settings...
