I'm investigating turning my CalVin into a Cafe -- I've had fun with the cruiser bike, but I prefer the cafe bike and I like building that style. I've already taped up the exhausts and installed fully floating wave rotors front and back. It's time to do the fun part --...
Nah, I like to think it's provoking the reader to draw their own conclusions about my writing; it may mean different things to different people. I don't think I can be honest in my opinions if I hold everything back.
I like the position it gives me in now, it's practical for the street and...
Re: Small block picture thread
Just added some Norman Hyde "M" bars and bar-end mirrors. Took a quick ride around Grosse Pointe tonight -- first time I haven't had to move my shoulders or squint through the vibration to see what's behind me. Comfortable, aggressive riding position without...
MG Cycle carries Small-Block Valve-cover gaskets. They're nice and thick and different from stock. They're also cheap and they work. I bought 8 of them just to have them around. For as many times as I plan to have them off, that's about 20K miles worth.
I have beaten a speeding ticket. It's actually quite simple. It costs money. You either get a referral or get out the yellow pages and find a traffic lawyer. I had one in AZ back in the 90's because I had a 911 and the insurance companies there plugged you good for a ticket (at least $450...
The Bellagio's beautiful. Many people in the US lament that this frame/engine combo isn't available -- yet. Maybe 2012.
Hit 1200 mi this morning. Unfortunately, I've got cage-duty this weekend to drive the family to the in-laws in Marietta, OH. I'm doing the MIchigan Rally the weekend...
Yes, it's the "dying" part as the engine is cold. As far as I can tell, it's chopping the throttle that causes it to die, especially after it is under load. The "choke" is there to bump the idle up a little bit to keep it off the "floor" of the fuel injection mapping. My guess is that an...
I've always liked her reviews, and she's been kind to Guzzi in the past. This review however, really was just all over the place. Didn't get the point that she was trying to make.
new post. 2nd week! I've had lots of comments and new people that are considering V7s, even a guy that says the Versys is a PTA and wants a V7C instead! There is a GOD!!!

Nah, not interference or anything like that.
It's not the "taking off". It's the "putting back on".
The way the covers fit is quite different from my old round-fin -- you're somewhat blind getting the screws into the head and it's easy to mung up a gasket when you're putting it on...
The way that the rocker cover goes on, anyone could kink the gasket. I have the best dealer in the US and definitely the best two-wheeled mechanic that I've ever seen. He got me in for my service quickly, fixed me up with transportation and, as usual, went above and beyond the call of duty for...
The stock V7C cross-over is huge. I'm curious what the benefits are for using the other cross-over -- do you have to upgrade the exhaust? I'm just curious because it's got such a large resonator. I don't think the engineers put it there for kicks, and I'm just curious.
I don't want to...
I popped the rockercover off last night. Gasket was kinked. Mystery solved. The gaskets are truly quite fragile. It's raining today so I'm in the cage.
