    California oil drip

That looks much more involved than I was expecting. Can't the output shaft seal be accessed by simply removing the swing arm? Interesting tip about replacing the UJ carrier bearing. I wouldn't have thought to do that at the 20,000 miles my bike has but it makes sense while it's apart.

    California oil drip

Is there a tutorial for the job here. I'm a reasonably capable home mechanic and have removed chain drive swing arms many times but this will be my first time with a shaft drive. It looks quite straightforward but I'd like to be aware of any potential pitfalls. Many thanks

    California oil drip

Yes. It's my understanding that the grub screw you can just about see which is an allen head, helps stop that bearing from moving.

    California oil drip

Well it's definitely not a figment of my imagination The hole is threaded and there is a grub screw inside. As I said a friend's EV has exactly the same hole

    California oil drip

Hi all. Got an issue with my recently acquired EV1100 2003. Under the swing arm on the right side just after where it comes out of its rubber gaitor there is a tiny hole out of which I've got a bit of oil coming through. I can see a grub screw inside the hole which I assume is to retain a...

    My Cal Engine

Yeah I'm sadly familiar with these stalwarts. But I have heard that fully synthetic is very good at getting through seals on older engines.

    My Cal Engine

Interesting. I've come from the world of BMW where the general advice is to steer clear of synthetic in the older airhead and oil head twins.

    My Cal Engine

Thanks guys. I should add that the bike is at 19,000 miles and the ticking is coming from both sides and not just the right as in my video. I'm hoping maybe someone didn't set the valve clearances correctly which I'll be checking on tomorrow. Better too loose than too tight I suppose. Would the...

    My Cal Engine

Ah Ha Done it. By the way I just bought it. It is in my garage so there is some reverberation but is this too clattery. Do I need to investigate? Thanks guys According to the service log the valves were done a couple of hundred miles ago So I need to check them

    My Cal Engine

Hi All. I'd like you guys to listen to my California engine but how do I post a video? It sounds a bit knocky at the top end to me but I need some opinions. It's a 2001 so has locknut tappets rather than hydraulic Thanks folks Quick edit I uploaded it to my YouTube channel.

    Newcomer with problem

According to my friend who just looked it's a flat tappet lifter and the vakve clearances are massively open.

    Newcomer with problem

Hi. I've just joined this forum in the hope I can get some help. I purchased a Griso 1200SE 2014 with 12,000 miles. Everything was going great until a few days when it started making a horrible noise from the right cylinder and losing power. I can only describe it as a grinding rattling...
