1. That can be somewhat of a problem, but before you throw a map at it, try a tune up first. Get a new air filter, new spark plugs, and give it a once-over. That cleaned up a lot of the running for me, but that's not to say that fueling can't be improved quite a lot with a quality map (check out...
Speaking of exhausts, @GT-Rx® do you have any insights on Mistral's full setup for the V85? It looks like they've got some larger headers, a Y-pipe, and a new hex muffler but I'm not sure how the bike would handle it without a reflash.
@Paultergeist I'm sure that GTM will have a much better explanation (he's EXTREMELY helpful), but my understanding is that the map on the V85 can't be "modified" per se right now, but unlocking the ECU lets the PCV read the map to make better corrections in real time vs just using a PCV without...
Cable drag is probably it, but the clutch feels more vague than my Griso does. With that bike I can feel right when the clutch touches down and it makes takeoffs smoother. The V85 isn't bad, and I can definitely live with it, but I'd be lying if laziness didn't play a factor. Having maintenance...
Has anyone looked into converting the V85 from a cable to hydraulic clutch? Maybe I'm just spoiled from the Griso but I love the feel and (lack of) maintenance of the hydraulic clutch. I've been doing some poking around with the Magura kits, even though there isn't one that's official.
No problem, another thing to try (one that I'm working on) is to put a couple spacers under the bottom part of the windscreen to lay it back a little further. I'm just stacking some plastic washers under it to try to push the turbulent line down a bit more. If I can't get it down enough I might...
Depends what you're looking for with "quieter". Do you prefer riding in the bubble behind the screen, or to have your helmet in clean air? The stock screen for me puts the turbulent line right at the bottom of my helmet, which is annoying but not deafening, and I'm looking to find a way to lower...
Side note on the exhaust side of things, has anyone removed the passenger foot peg mounts and had issues with melting their boots on the pipe on the left side of the bike? I've got fairly big feet (US size 13 or so) and most bikes, V85 included, give me issues with my heels hitting the passenger...
Any updates on how much this improved the bike? It's definitely a lovely handling thing even from the factory but the suspension leaves a lot to be desired in some cases.
I've just noticed that again my Griso is leaking oil from under the valve covers. I replaced them a while back when I tore the valve cover gaskets when I was doing a valve service. I'm now on my second set of gaskets (first were OEM, second were Valpolini sent to me for free by a very nice...
Are these recommended for the V85 engine as well? I don't know the differences between the 750 small block in the V7 and the 850 small block in the V85.
Has anyone here looked into upgrading the Griso headlight with a JW Speaker unit? Motodemic sells a kit with the light and all of the mounting hardware and having the lean angle sensitive lighting would be pretty neat for night riding through the north woods. It's a little spendy at around $700...
I've got a line on a 2016 Stelvio NTX with just 1200 miles on the clock for $8999 from a dealer that I trust. Is that a reasonable price and what should I be looking for on a test ride?
Thanks!
