Since I don't know how often Patrick checks this forum I'll respond for him. I helped Patrick with this project.
We got the speedo from http://www.speedhut.com/.
Yes, it uses GPS to set it's speed and is quite easy to wire in. They have a wide range of colors and backlights and such and to add...
I put one of those on a my BMW and it was noticeably larger (taller and wider) than any tire I've had on the bike. It wasn't a bad tire, just larger than advertised.

Re: Crankshaft Sensor Info
Yes, I did on my Scura. It uses a pin like the later photo rather than the keyway (which I'd prefer). I slotted the hole in the gear but the only thing holding the timing where you want it is the drive gear sandwiching the 'tone gear' against the flange on the...
While there are a number of bikes that do ( early Yamaha R1's, for example) they won't necessarily have the holes on the right diameter circle or their center hub hole the same. If you're trying to find something that'll fit what you've got I'd recommend starting by getting these measurements...
Well if 108 doesn't get snowed in with the next storm I was going to be heading down to death valley this weekend on my R65.
If all goes well it should hit 200K right about the time I hit D.V.
I'll be camping this weekend. I get laid off in a week and a half AND I'm a cheap bastard.
I'd do...
I went on a group ride over the weekend and ended up taking some pictures of my V50 mutant hot rod.
The other bike in these photos has bodywork made by the same guy. We were taking these to send to him.

Re: Modern "No Crank" Starting issue solution
I did a similar thing to my V11 sport and it has solved the problems I had there as well.
Unless everything was absolutely perfect I'd have intermittent starter operation issues.
Since doing this about a year ago it's worked every time.

I wish I had known about that Acewell Speed Sensor Cable when I replaced mine.
I went with the white faced AutoMeter and have been very happy with it though I had to use a hall sensor triggered off the rear disc mounting bolts to run it.
That only gives 6 pulses per wheel revolution (which...
Nice pics. Last time I was down that way I took 178 from Bakersfield to Lake Isabella and then 155 back towards Delano.
Some sections of 155 are unbelievably fun, super tight and twisty, if you're into that sort of thing.

I ran into these symptoms on my V11 Sport where bench testing it seemed fine but then installing the starter would result in a click where you could feel the solenoid on the starter actuating but not turning the motor. After pulling the starter and solenoid and having it consistently work on the...
Sorry to hear you're having problems.
Munroe's in San Francisco has been getting me parts on a very consistent 1 week'ish time frame though lately it's been all block block parts.

It's on the top of the transmission case at the rear. It's probably obscured by the battery (I don't recall exactly how everything fits together on a standard V50).

I've used these on a few bikes over the years.

They're located in Arizona and Lani, the owner is a very nice guy to deal with.
