V50 mk2 Running on 1 cylinder Please help please

Slander?? Hah! And I'm the asshole? Did you notice how NO ONE came to your defense when I provided some necessary context to the new guy? Hmmm..., isn't that telling? And the only person who told me I was wrong was you. It's not slander if it's true, Scott. A quick review of your post history...

V50 mk2 Running on 1 cylinder Please help please

I wouldn't take it personally, Dronk. Scott has a habit of voicing his frustration on new people. I've been here just a few years and I've seen it multiple times. It's not personal, it's more "categorical". Scott does this FOR A LIVING and gets frustrated when discussing repairs/maint with...

V50 mk2 Running on 1 cylinder Please help please

For what it's worth, that's a different bike. Electronic pickups on (stock) V50ii need to be adjusted. Specs/tolerances in the manual...

V50 mk2 Running on 1 cylinder Please help please

Sounds like the electronic pickups have not been adjusted. If you say it's stock I suggest checking the timing and adjusting the pickup for that cylinder, which is likely to be off. You will need a special tool to get the rotor off if the pickup needs to be adjusted.

V50 mk2 Running on 1 cylinder Please help please

Hi, I have the same bike and also had a similar issue resulting with a *new* plug being bad. (It’s been more than a few times I’ve seen the auto parts guys drop plugs on the floor in the store.) If you switched the plugs and the fault shifted, it’s the plug. New or not. Make sure you have a good...

Whats the coolest bike you have test rode?

The 750S F4 Brutale by MV Agusta (2005), hands down (for me anyway)! Like no other bike I've ever been on. I haven't ridden a ton of bikes, but I have owned a Ducati Monster, ridden a few other Ducatis, Kawasakis, Yamaha FZ1, Indian FTR, Sportster 1600. I thought the Monster was my dream...

    V50 quirks and parts availability

First stop for parts is MG Cycle out of WI I would say. 2nd choice Harper Moto, then eBay, etc. Harper Moto is flakey but they probably have a larger (wider?) inventory of used parts than MG Cycle. My V50ii came mostly intact but the electronic ignition is on its last leg and expensive to...

V50 II alternator rotor wont come out

I disagree with your assessment here, Scott. There was back-and-forth on the post from the beginning, and the issue/attack plan was laid out pretty clearly after just two days. Didn't really see a need for a lot of follow-up after that, but I know problem tasks, such as this one, can age for...

V50 II alternator rotor wont come out

Did you have any luck with the puller, Kevin? I also tried an improvised slide-hammer technique on my V50ii alternator before resorting to the proper tool. It's odd how difficult these are to get off, yet so easy when you apply a little force with the right tool and it pops off just as easily as...

A very nice machine for sure, and in good shape too. It definitely caught my attention...I'll keep an eye out for one on Craigslist

    HOT left cylinder

Assuming your machine use throttle bodies, check for air leaks post-fuel delivery point. An air intake leak somewhere around the intake boot would cause the affected side to run hot/lean. This happened to me on another bike, but in my case the bike ran horribly. Did yours run normally otherwise...

Vintage Motorcycle Shows in the U.S.

I've never been a Honda guy, but something in these builds struck a chord with me. As you know, one can have multiple "mistresses". If this custom was your ~only~ bike it might be some tough going. I've never built a custom, but I think it's as much about the build as the finished product. Not...

Vintage Motorcycle Shows in the U.S.

These photos are from the Oregon Vintage Motorcycle (OVM assn) show in Corvallis, Oregon. This is generally an annual event, though it was skipped due to COVID last year. The event this year featured vintage Italian marques. There were about as many vintage bikes in the parking lot as there was...

    Montana to legalize lane splitting/filtering!

The Oregon legislature recently passed a similar measure (May 2021) for lane "sharing/filtering." They've been trying for years. The bill that passed was so pared down and limited it was almost worthless. I thought to myself, it's so limited that people are going to abuse the law and rebel...and...
