    V85TT Mods Thread

So....after much thought I fitted a small fan under the tank and pointed "forward" to the inner cylinder banks. Wired it in with a separate toggle. For such a small fan, it has a surprising amount of CFM. Being winter here in New England, I can't report any findings, but it HAS to be somewhat...

    V85TT Alarm Service explained

I noticed that it's in the "off-road" mode.....wondering if the indicated 75mph speed in that mode would cause the "alarm"?

    UpMap Q&A

Does anyone know if this "mod" will correct the knock / ping we get with the V85TT's? I searched but could not find an answer.......THIS issue if it's corrected would make me a potential buyer. I've had the latest ECU factory map installed..but still no go. Right now, the best combo I have is...

    V85TT tappet noise.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting the theory of cold vs hot measurements, but wear in over time. As you stated, I’d love to experiment with a bit tighter tolerance but…..like you I’m not game.

    V85TT tappet noise.

I had 2 KLR 650's, a first gen 2006 and second gen 2012. Loved them both. The ONLY issue I had was the power. It would suffice but I wanted a bit more. Traded it for a mint Vstrom 650 then traded it for this one......They were all fitted accordingly as well. This goose is just a bigger KLR....:)

    V85TT tappet noise.

I have Todd's y-pipe and am VERY happy with the tone over stock. I just need to accept the fact that these motors make "music", and not "noise", lol. All I really need is to hear another.........! That's one of the things I like about this ride....no one else has one locally anyways.

    V85TT tappet noise.

Ahhh, makes sense. I kinda figured it was something like that. Just curious though as to what setting they use at the factory when they are set. It MUST be tighter to allow for this "loosening" of the valvetrain for break-in.

    V85TT tappet noise.

Yup, very sure. Plastic straw, watched the intake valve close then allowed to go up to TDC......... Question for you.......why would the method of valve actuation affect whether they tighten or loosen? I don't know of any time driven 4-stroke engine that will result in loose {r}...

    V85TT tappet noise.

When the bike was new {purchased Dec 2020}, the motor was very quiet. Once I crossed about 1500 miles, she became quite tappy, more so on the right than the left. Did the requisite valve check, and found one loose intake on the left cylinder, one tight exhaust on the right. Not excessive at...

For anyone desiring a larger seat-to-peg ergo, these do the trick. Combine them with the associated brackets to lower the shifter and the brake pedal. 2" makes a big difference, LOL. Pegs are Crosstrek, extensions are by Knight design. BTW....Todd's cat eliminator is awesome. What a nice sound...

    V85TT issues and Loose Bits

So.....to all with a V85TT and a CENTERSTAND. ....... If you have a rattle, check here as well. If you read my prior post, I chaulked it up to a horn I installed. After my post, the sound soon re-appeared in an ugly way, and getting worse. On the centerstand in the shop, I could not replicate...

    V85TT issues and Loose Bits

So.......what I ended up finding is nothing more than a problem I caused. I installed a PIAA low profile sport horn in place of that pathetic factory horn {that is ineffective at any distance beyond 2 yards} with a simple crash bar clamp mount and the body of the horn was vibrating on the red...

    V85TT issues and Loose Bits

Thanks Vagrant- I don't want you to think I "cruise" at that rpm constantly, just when conditions of no-load are able to be had. She's a rev happy little thing and happiest at 4K up...........!!

    V85TT issues and Loose Bits

Thanks JW. My dealer did what I consider to be a great job setting it up. I couldn't find a loose fastener anywhere before during and up to this point of approx 1100miles. I've had the skid plate off a couple times now to access the drain plug and it is well secured with locktite. Here's a...

    V85TT issues and Loose Bits

Got an annoying rattle at approx 3000 rpm......Not under a load, but just cruising at that particular rpm. Under load, no problem. Whether riding it or just a mild rev to that point. Checked all {!} the fasteners and can't seem to locate it. Removed the hard cases, same deal. Thoughts? Just...

V85tt final drive oil change at 850 miles.

After a brief conversation with my dealer, he confirmed that Guzzi uses Moly in the factory fill, giving the lube the coloration as described. He does as I did, drain and re-fill with synthetic. Concerns from hi-anxiety went to nil. As stated earlier, the dust-like particles are of no concern.
