harbor freight BMW rear wheel balancing adapter

I bought one on sale too a while back. Last tire change I remembered that something needed modification, but couldn't remember what. I was able to get by without it since my balancer had large enough cones. Today I was changing rubber, so I dug out the HF adaptor. The dimensions are all...

    Sunny at least.

You can reset that wrench service icon yourself. It is just programmed to come up at the regular service intervals. Just go to the menu and find 'reset service code' The six digit code is different for various models and can be found on this forum.

    Norge ABS stays lit

I'll ask my question a different way. In addition to the cables that connect to the battery, are there some leads with ring terminals that are ABS related that connect directly to the battery posts? Just one additional to the + on post, or is there also an ABS lead that connects to the - post?

    Norge ABS stays lit

John, It's a 2008, original battery, only 1,300 miles. All -Thanks for the other ideas; it starts and otherwise runs like a top. Can someone confirm what there are for ABS connections that go directly to the battery?

    Norge ABS stays lit

A friend of mine has a Norge with an ABS light that stays lit. I think he understands the cancellation function on the menu, has checked the fuses and battery connections. Battery was drained flat once, and the ABS lead to the battery was disconnected. It has been reconnected (it goes on the...

Newbie Griso Questions: Leaks, hoses, and such

Fuel overflow - just can't figure out why the fuel is 'oily' and leaves a a stain after the fuel evaporates ?????

    rear shock top bolt

Confirmed! Yes it can be done without removal of anything. Griso top shock bolt can be removed with the right wrench, without removal of any extraneous bits. You have to have skinny arms, and something like this (the lower one worked the best). Keep the wrench pointed down; you'll have about...

Termignoni differnce between 8v and 850/1100 version

I believe overall physical dimensions of either the G11 Termi and the 8V Termi are the same. I would speculate that it's likely only the configuration of the cat would be different; maybe the shape of the db killer. I can post a photo of the 8V db killer if need be.

    helmet lock

Does your Stelvio not have a short cable with with crimped lugs on the ends in the tool kit? It is used as a helmet lock that you use in conjuction with the small hooks under the seat along the frame rails. The Grisos and Brevas have them.

Termignoni differnce between 8v and 850/1100 version

I have the 8V Termi on my Griso 1100. It fit perfectly. Greg at MI sold it to me (when he was still there); he said the 8V Termi would be 'better' than the 4V Termi. Whatever that meant - perhaps a slightly different cat configuration, or an improved cat design?

    Latest Guzziology

I have versions 6.1 and 7.0, both of which have some Norge information. I understand that version 8.0 was just released earlier this year. I would presume it would have even more Norge content. Let us know what you find out.

    Sorry - Penrite oil question

My thinking was: since you had some left over hypoid 80W90, why not use it in the CARC? It's probably spec'd exactly the same as the Agip that Moto Guzzi recommends. I won't debate the synthetic oil superiority issue, but the CARC just won't see any kind of heat anyway. Plus it might prevent...

    Sorry - Penrite oil question

I'd for sure use the Hypoid 80w-90 in the cardan drive. It's the same as what's spec'd from Moto Guzzi with Agip 80W-90 and is non-synthetic. The specs of the Agip is a generic as any hypoid 80W90 lube as it gets. The gearbox, on the other hand is spec'ed to be Agip MGS85W-90 which is...

    8 valve exhaust

I assume a stock can swap is acceptable 1200 for 1100. I ordered the Termi for my 1100 (from MI) and recieved the one for the 1200. I inquired that they send the wrong model - they said they sent the 1200 because it is 'better'.

    Potential Problems with Potential Purchase?

on a Griso you can see the fuel pump and filter through the fuel filler with a flashlight. Reference Todd's pinned thread about 5 posts above this one for the photos. You can quickly determine if the hose recall has been done visually. No need to remove the tank or pull the fuel pump assy...

    New Owner To-Be

sohcfour, I can confirm that VDSTS does indeed display the current fuel map (it's just that it seems to be in a nomenclature that a little different than whats talked about here).

    New Owner To-Be

Congrats and welcome sohcfour! Must have been the one that just closed on E-bay a couple of days ago over in MI. I was taking a hard look at it too. Seemed like a fair price (I'm jealous). Beware, Pete's going to give you a lashing about the db killer being out of the Termi (hopefully the...

    Alternator Belt Tension

Thanks Pete, I don't think it's slipping; didn't see any rubber dust in the housing. I'm also against too much tension, but wasn't sure how sensitive this design was without any sort of idler pulley or more of a wrap around the pulley. For some reason, part of the edge of the belt has some...
