Fluctuating idle only in gear at stop

OK Todd, but I assume --since many have had luck fixing this problem with the stepper motor defeated-- that's not the whole story on the stepper motor, right? Does it actuate despite the oil temp being above the shutoff point?

Fluctuating idle only in gear at stop

My '08 Norge exhibits this same behavior. Pop it into neutral as you approach a stop sign or red light, and the idle is steady. With clutch pulled in, idle will rise a couple hundred RPM on occasion. Not constantly. Can't imagine that it's a case of the clutch not fully disengaging, as the...

    Norge Handling Question

The Pilot Road 2 is also available in a 'B-Spec' version which has a stiffer sidewall for heavier machines. My buddy just bought a set for his FJ1300, though he doesn't do much two-up riding. Michelin recommends the B-Spec for the FJ and for the Concours14, but no mention of the Norge. I...

Surprising amount of oil in Norge airbox

Oil level should be checked when the engine is warm. Mid-way in the dipstick's 'safe range' sems to be best. I have also noticed that my Norge is drawing less oil into the airbox as it breaks in, but some of that may be because I have begun checking the level while the motor is warm. Also...

I hope it is as simple as a 'blown' valve cover gasket

+1 ! I'm amazed at the number of people on the forums who bemoan the difficulties of removing their tanks, when a simple block of wood beneath the tank allows for easy access to just about everything underneath, without touching the fuel lines. Just remember to place a thick rag or towel...

I hope it is as simple as a 'blown' valve cover gasket

You might also want to check the connections at the oil cooler, mine were barely tight when I removed them to drain the cooler at the time of my last oil change. Not sure if their position corresponds to the location of your leak, but figurd I'd mention it nonetheless...

    new norge seat

John, you had Sargent rebuild your stock seat? Any pics? Or did you add the foam yourself? --chuck

    new norge seat

Thanks for the info! :) One more question-- from the pics, it looks as if the new seat would give a little more distance between seat and pegs; but I see you're talking about being closer to the bars and valve covers-- what's the impact to the bend of the knees? I'm about 6'0", and would...

    new norge seat

Looks real nice! Been considering going this route for a new seat for my '08 Norge. A few questions: Much more comfy than the stock seat? Certainly looks as if if the slant towards the tank has been levelled out some. Is there a larger contact patch with your bum? How was the install...

Did you know MG makes a rear fender extender?

Thanks for the pics! So busy here in the Northeast with the three S's (skiing, snowshoeing and shoveling) that I haven't had a chance to check back sooner. That's a real neat looking solution to the grit-slinging factor... Looks like no visible fasteners necessary?

Did you know MG makes a rear fender extender?

Why didn't I think of that?! Still, was kind of hoping to see a pic from farther away, to give a sense of the size issue... I don't currently run a top box either, but the back of the Mrs.' jacket was covered with an alarming sludge-stripe after our last rain ride...

Did you know MG makes a rear fender extender?

How about a pic of that rear fender extender, already! I'd like to see how it looks. After all, one man's 'wide load' is another man's 'junk in the trunk'... :D

    Windsheild washer

Regarding the w/g link: wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=41243.0 Actually, he was making aluminum washers for the Norge shield; haven't cracked mine yet, but this seems like a nice way to go for a permanent fix that will look quite similar to stock. Think I'll have to make a few up for the...

    Another New Norge

Todd, Have been considering the ECU re-flash for my '08 Norge, but this is the first I've read, regarding the need for the VDST tool to set up the new ECU. So if I wanted to go for the ECU reflash, I'd also need to buy the VDST as well? An extra $250. minimum on top of the $500. for the ECU is...

    Another New Norge

Thought I'd weigh in on the norge handling issue. I also purchased an '08 (also Black) this year, from Razee motorcycles in R.I., and also do quite a bit of riding in southern NH. Had a serious pucker-up moment on a NH 137 left-hander on my first weekend out on the thing when the center stand...
