I have had some experience with oil leaks on a 2009.....
In increasing order of difficulty, here are the possible sources I have encountered:
1) Oil filter loose
2) Valve cover gaskets and seals - likely not your problem, will just leak down the outside of the engine
3) Oil collection tubes...
The factory service manual does describe the fork oil change so get a copy of that and it's pretty straight forward. A few things to note - measure or mark the position of the top of the fork tubes to the triple clamp (they don't sit flush), use a torque wrench on all reassembly (often greatly...

A few thoughts, I have experience with both the factory heated grips and oxfords.
I would recommend the oxford grips, they work well and are inexpensive. The factory heated grips are anaemic and relatively expensive...
the service manual is OK at describing the steps as long as you take your time.
to route everything it is best to remove the tank, the Swingarm ( a good opportunity to grease the bearings) and the rear shock. the slave cylinder is attached with 3 bolts and comes out easily.
Good to hear - mine is back together as well and running great (had to do the TB balancing myself as well) - owning your own tuning equipment is a must for these things as the mechanics don't seem to know how to set them up properly.
The only problem I have noticed is that the fuel economy...
Do you want something special? Buy the Guzzi, if you just want value for money then get a V-strom, the BMW is overpriced IMO and bland. If the multi strada is a bit much then look at the Aprilia Caponord but I would still recommend the Stelvio if you want something that has real personality.
My advice is to follow the factory recommended intervals. The engineers who designed the bike had the best information on what is needed and are gonna ro be conservative with recommended maintenance intervals. If you would like to do maintenance at more frequent intervals than recommended then...
Time moves slowly in Guzzi land. I have finally had my issue confirmed and parts are covered by Guzzi but not labour.
The kit is the roller cam kit and includes new head gaskets and a new engine map when complete.
The exhaust lobe had the worst damage but intake was affected as well. It...
Thanks, that is good news. My dealer has come through for me, they are taking the top end apart to check for wear that could be the cause then hopefully Guzzi will supply the parts to get it sorted out. I will probably have to cover the labour for the repair but it's better than the whole bill...
Thanks Bloomie,
Looks like I am in the same boat - did you get any information on whether the new parts were available,?If not I guess I'll have to install the old and hope I didn't get another set of the 5% parts.
I'll see if I can get the parts supplied at least, that would help ease the...

Thanks Bloomie, I would appreciate hearing how your issues turn out and confirming that the updated parts are available.
Unfortunately I think there are a lot of brothers out there! I thought the days of "don't buy the early model" were over but obviously that is not true for Guzzi.
Still, a...
Thanks, give them a blast for me as well - I have had the main seal leak twice myself though my dealer came through for the labour to fix it the second time (didn't replace the defective flange, don't think the communication to the dealers is very good either) I have had almost every published...
This is F#@*ing annoying! I have 40k on mine (09 as well) and a nasty noise out of the left side. I have been very patient but this is starting to wear thin. I don't think it is unreasonable to expect an internal combustion engine to last 40k without the valve train wearing out. WTF are we...
What distance from the main screen and angle have you found best?
Alan NZ
Sorry, haven't been visiting much recently- I have mine set up more or less parallel with the main screen and the gap is about 2-2.5 inches but I think it really depends on how high you set the main screen (mine is an...
I haven't used the Touratech unit but the MRA X-creen : http://www.mra.de/en/x-creen
They have a clamp on kit or you can drill and mount permanently. This has worked really well for me. It has a huge range of adjustability, appears to be more versatile than the Touratech so it might be worth...
My experience:
Bought a 2009 ( worst case scenario)
I have had 22 (!) issues covered variously under warranty and by me (warranty support has been good) but the bike has never let me down on the side of the road, have taken it as far from tech support as I could with no problems (Radisson...
Thanks a lot for the pictures - much appreciated, hopefully mine will get sorted out by Guzzi.
As for Toronto and the beaches - it certainly has become a lot more expensive to live there and the quality of life has declined. Not sure what Pasadena is like but the weather is certainly better...
Thanks, Looking forward to the pictures.
I am now in Hamilton, was glad to get out of Toronto, I was on the west side near high park, it is almost the same level of (in)convenience to get downtown from Hamilton as living in the city.
I see you are in California - that should have improved the...
