    Rocker cover gaskets

I had a fun evening yesterday I took my rocker covers off to inspect the valve clearances, and to my horror, found that gasket material stuck solid to both mating surfaces. So I had 2 hours, of gentle scraping and teasing off of old gasket. I have a 2 valve, and I understand that the 8V model...

2009 Griso - suddenly, smooth running to coughing and hiccups ...

I once experienced identical symptoms on a Yamaha. After much head scratching, it turned out to be one of the HT leads that had broken down, causing an arc. Easy enough thing to diagnose. Just wrap electrical insulating tape around where the plug cap inserts into the HT lead, and test ride it...

    8V silencer on an 1100

Sorry, I should have said, I have a Griso I know the 1200 silencer fits to the 1100 because my friend has the 1200, and we tried it. It ran and sounded fine. TBH I like the 1200 silencer a lot, but not the 1100 dustbin.

    8V silencer on an 1100

Just out of curiosity, could the 1200 silencer be used on the 1100 without any adverse effects ?

    Service time

OK I'm in. As John Zibell said, we all have to start somewhere, and it would be such a great bonus to take care of this aspect of maintencance myself. I can't find a PM facility so just a couple of quick questions. How to pay and, cost of postage to the UK, inc the plastic case. Getting exited...

    Service time

OK where can I acquire, and how much ? Oh and can I ask a couple more quick questions. 1) If my bike runs smooth and idles fine, is it really necessary to do all this ? 2) I do seem to have a problem - in that the idle speed is a bit low from stone cold. I would have thought it would have a cold...

    Service time

Thanks, but now you see whilst all that seems simple to you, it's like another language to me. I'm not stupid, and have a reasonable technical aptitude and feel I can do this, but what I'd like is a video showing the procedure step by step. I'd happily pay a fair price for something like that.

    CRACKLE AND POP

Thanks for the input. I sold the Mistral. I actually made a little bit of money on it. For now I'll stick with the OE can, till I figure this out. I have to say, I like the look of Tod's stubby system for the 1100. Any chance of a better photo of the complete bike with it fitted, rather than just...

    Service time

Even though my Griso has a good service history, and was done less than 200 miles ago, I decided to start from scratch. Oil change - Silkolene Pro 4 plus 10/60 Gearbox, final drive Valve clearances checked - all fine. So the next bit is where I'm stuck. Throttle bodies / TPS setting. I'd really...

    CRACKLE AND POP

Hi all. Hoping I can get some advice here. I just got a Mistral high level pipe for my 1100 Griso. Love this pipe, but there is a problem. When decelerating, it pops and bangs quite a bit. I actually find it unbearable. Any thoughts :(

    SW Motech Tabk Bags

There a guy who makes a tank ring which replaces the original surround, and takes the Givi tank lock bags. Here's mine:

    Back after a break

Thanks for the reply's. I had my last 1100 for 4 years from 2007. It wasn't till I sold it, that I realised that it was actually the best bike I've ever owned. Had this one for a month, and the first time out on it, I felt quite emotional. Like being reunited with an old friend. I'll NEVER let...

    Back after a break

Had a new Griso in 2007, then sold it in 2011. I always thought I'd return to this bike one day, as I regretted the sale from day one. Just got myself a really nice late 1100. Need a Mistal high level pipe, as mine is standard. Popping back to see if there's anything new and interesting going on...

    V7 Racer

Anyone seen it ? I did, yesterday for the first time, and I'm very tempted to get it. Looking around on various review sites, I see that the biggest gripe is the fact it "only" has 50bhp. I don't know why Guzzi get such a hard time for producing an old school racer with 50bhp. What short...

Odd one - anyone got a Stucchi tail tidy?

Just something else to add quickly. I took mine off today, and Oh dear, I suggest anyone else who has this item fitted do the same. It's corroded and rusted at the back really badly. You can't see it when fitted, but believe me, it's there. OK so I've refitted the original mudguard and plan to...

Must do mods for Griso owners!

Well I don't ride like a granny, but I can get 55mpg regularly out on the open roads. I work it out properly as well. Brim the tank, re set trip meter to zero, do about 100 or so miles, brim again and divide the total mileage by the number of gallons used. I don't thrash it, but I don't plod...

Must do mods for Griso owners!

Sorry Gotta dissagree again. I tried super unleaded once. I have worked out my fuel consumption. My lowest has been 45mpg and highest 57mpg, both of which are acceptabel figures and both achieved on ordinary 95 oct fuel. The same was achieved using the higher octane "super" fuel so it made no...

Odd one - anyone got a Stucchi tail tidy?

I have one of these, and never really thought about it until I read this. I suppose if the led strip did go, you could always get an auto electrician to fit another one. It wouldn't be that hard. The problem I have with mine is the number plate holder is loose. It seemed to be getting worse and...

Must do mods for Griso owners!

Before buying the Griso, I had an R1. Basically, a bad accident finished me with sports bikes. Not technically my fault but neve the less, I decided that if I wanted to continue riding, I had to slow down, and for me, the Griso is the perfect bike for that. Yes it can hold it's own. It is very...
