While it is true that Snell does not certify (or did not certify) modular or "flip face" helmets, they aren't neccesarily less safe. I wore one for many years (Nolan N100) but in the end, decided that the trade off's in weight, fit (not many manufacturers, so fit was a compromise) and wind...
I'm offering this opinion as board member and not a professional;
The answer is...depends...on a lot of factors. Where the helmet was stored when not worn, how often it was worn (and in what conditions). It's difficult to tell how protective it will be in a crash as they do certainly break...
Sweet! So...you didn't have to reflash the computer or ad a PCIII? Very nice! I love the pod filters on mine...I made the conversion just a couple of weeks ago. The bike is new to me, and I have NO idea on the history of it and what's been done. It doesn't have a PCIII. While it doesn't...
FWIW....there are several variables along with the shield, including your reach to the bars, your helmet, whether you where earplugs or not, your arse to your head measurement...
On the helmet front...I've worn Arai for years and years. After a slide at the track, I needed a new lid and went...
Sounds like a fun bike, Chuck!
I'm looking for a little more performance, but not a monster bike...I've got track bikes for that...and tracks to ride them on! I just like a little more hustle from turn to turn on the road.
FWIW...I let my old 900SS get away from me a couple of years ago. I...
Howdy gang!
Now that I've got the Guzzi running properly, it's time to begin exploring the various options for blowing a wad of money making it "better".
Here are my thoughts, and please share any info and ideas. Guzzi based info is pretty hard to find on the 'net...
1) Suspension;
The...
If your fuel level is low, it can certainly do this.
If it starts and idles somewhat, you're now dealing with nasty injectors and old fuel. Your vent lines might be crossed up, but I kinda doubt your fuel lines themselves are crossed up.
Keep digging! :D
Well, the easiest way to see if they're working is to remove one and see if it squirts when it turns over. You probably need a piece of paper to see the pattern. Generally, when injectors fail the drip fuel. They normally don't stick closed, but they can.
How long did you have it running...
Electrical systems can seem somewhat "mystical", but they really aren't. As long as the smoke doesn't get out...
Sorry, kidding...April fools comment I guess.
The advice given on cleaning the contacts is very good. Normally, for every used bike I've owned, the first thing I do is ensure that...
HA! A topic I can actually speak intellegently to and have a great deal of experience with. Here are some thoughts;
Depending on what type of riding you'll be doing over several days has a great deal to do with how you pack, what you wear, how you will be affected by staminia issues...
You think 62K on an oilhead beemer is a lot?
Hmmmm.
I put 168K on one. Never should have sold it.
I've got a buddy who STARTED the Iron Butt Rally with 141K on his...
FWIW...There's no reason a Guzzi won't do all of that and maybe more.
I just installed Pods on my V11 Le Mans..mainly because my side covers where kinda nastied up (cracked at the mounting holes).
I will say this though...the bike now sounds as evil as my Ducati 748/699 race bike...which sports open Arrow full race exhaust. Sounds as good as my old 900SS carb'd...
Here are a couple of thoughts;
There is a fair amount of oil left in lines, bearings, the cooler, etc. during an oil change. I like to do a couple of things to ensure I get more of the old stuff out. First, I get it up to temp, as you have done. Second, I park with the front wheel on a board...
You can gravity feed into the tank...and the entire tank does not have to sit higher, but the lowest part of the aux tank must sit higher than the low fuel level on the main tank. The tank itself is not pressurized, only the line to the FI. The line from the aux. tank goes to a fitting you...
What's the total fuel capacity with this set-up?
FWIW...the price really isn't that bad considering one-off custom welded fuel cells can easily reach this.
I like the design, I like the location...it seems a little "underwhelming" capacity wise. I'm certainly not knocking this set up, but I...
Re: Last Update to Hard Starting...
Ok, catching everyone up on my challenges...and some learnings...
1) Guzzi's are pretty straight forward (yup, knocking on wood.. ;) )
2) The Guzzi leaked gas like mad...until I rebuilt the fuel injectors..a good investment of about $65...
3) Guzzi's don't...
Thanks Todd!
Yup, diagnostic tools are great...as long as you know what they're telling you and how to use the information.
My best guess was...and is...fuel injectors. Whenever I turn the key and hear the pump run, I can smell gas nearly immediately and it begins to drip within a few...
Oooooh....didn't even consider the temp sensor. That's a thought. Thanks John for the link.
Ok, here's another question, and probably one for Todd: will the VSTB (or whatever the heck that thing is) read sensor failures? I usually eventually purchase all of that diagnostic stuff as I just...
