    Riding in Hot weather

I always wear full gear even in the hot soupy weather, usually a vented jacket with armor, riding boots, vented mc pants, vented gloves and full face helmet. For longer rides I throw on the camelback with ice water as well.

    converting to drum brakes

After seeing the new V7 racer X I may just leave the rear disc. Plus I already have a nice spoked rim for a T3.

    converting to drum brakes

I have a T3 that has been made into a cafe bike and am looking to change the rear disc brake to a drum brake set up. I know it's not the usual upgrade (or maybe downgrade) but I have acquired a 4 leading shoe front brake set up and want the rear to be drum also. So the question is what exactly...

NY to Texas and back again

Great trip to Dallas covering 4500 miles and 11 states. We got to see some beautiful country and enjoyed some fine roads and of coarse plenty of slab. I didn't take a lot of pics but here are a few. eastern Texas The Mississippi still flooded well into AR and LA Natchez Trace in MS agood road...

    YSS shock option for Quota!

Remote spring preload? There are options available but i'm not sure what, my shock has 60 click adjustment for rebound damping and 20 clicks compression damping. Once your spring preload is set for correct sag changing the rebound and compression fine tune your ride depending on your load. The...

    YSS shock option for Quota!

Before my Texas trip the original Sachs shock went belly up so through Todd here at Guzzi Tech I purchased a YSS shock specifically made for the Quota. My shock was used to create a build sheet on the Quota shock and should be able to be ordered through Todd. I have to say the shock is a huge...

    metal in oil

Just a follow up: I installed paper fuel filters in the return lines to the heads and after draining the oil again only found a few specs of rusty metal in the oil. I have since taken a trip to Texas about 4500 miles and after changing the oil back home everything was clean, no bits or flakes. I...

    Whoops, I did it again...

Just my 2 cents but a nicely restored LM is better than cash in the bank IMHO. It looks like a complete bike which is always a good candidate for restoration. I don;t have issues with custom machines mind you I have a cafe bike built from a T3 but it's built from a T3... Good luck anyhow i'm...

    V11 Sport Tuning Question

I have an 03 Rosso Corsa and when I added the Ti exhaust and ecu the bike improved greatly. I had some issues with pinging but after using a the "micha" at MI method of setting up the TPS it runs great. There is a great deal of info at the V11 LeMans site.

    Shock options

I have also been looking at BMW K100 monoshocks, they appear to be close to the same length and the flying brick is also a pretty hefty bike at 549lbs.

    Shock options

I was unable to make any adjustments on the Quota shock and found it to be an oily mess down there so I pulled it off and found the shock buggered up. I was wondering if anyone knows of a replacement that can be bought fairly quickly as I am planning a trip at the end of May. I see the Hyperpro...

    metal in oil

After having a couple of mechanic friends look at the stuff and both said its not from an internal engine part. I then unhooked the breather lines and flushed out the breather which is in the frame and more of the same metal junk came out. It looks like flakes of rust and slag. I put 150 miles...

    metal in oil

I can't seem to get a good pic with my camera either but this might be better. I looked up at the camshaft and had someone slowly rotate the crank while I looked at everything and couldn't see anything unusual. The lobes looked good as well as the bottom of the tappets. This debris doesn't look...

    metal in oil

It is ferrous for sure. Could this be the result of excessive valve clearance or more likely a defective part? I got the bike back in December of last year and have been chasing issues ever since. I did notice when adjusting the valves they were way out of spec.

    metal in oil

Ok so the Quota is back together with a good working clutch so I decided before putting some miles on it I would change oil. Much to my dismay I collected a significant amount of metal from the drain plug and pan. It looks very strange almost like flakes of metal which are dark in color not...
