    starting a family

I'll resurrect this thread... So about 3 weeks after starting this discussion I found out we were having twins! Can you say "Holy $hit!" Anyway, I'm excited, extremely busy, and the wife isn't working anymore so... I think I have to say goodbye to the toy for a little while (18 years?). It...

Here is one to get you thinking

Really though at walking speed the only reason you go left is because you leaned enough to not fall over to the right at which point if you prevent yourself from falling over you're turning right!

    too cold to start griso?

How did you check the charge? It could show 12V and still be 80% discharged. I'm making those #'s up but the voltage levels are relatively flat charged vs discharged only a few millivolts could separate a good vs bad battery. Basically a discharged battery shows itself more with a high...

    too cold to start griso?

Check the battery terminals. I noticed that the cold weather tended to make mine loose frequently. They would be connected but pulling juice through them caused them to disconnect. Mine also displayed the exact same behavior when the battery is low. There is enough juice to get the lights on...

    Useless info

The other day on the highway I ended up frequently coasting in neutral (probably not supposed to do that) and started watching the instantaneous fuel usage indicator on the dash. I got it all the way up to 112 MPG! The griso is a hyper-miler!

    starting a family

Thanks, seems like economics had a lot more to do with people riding early in family life than wive's nervousness :) That being said, I used to feel rich... enough so to buy a fancy Italian bike... now not so much :)

    My bike pings.

This thread is old. Clam and Todd solved the ping problem in another thread with timing and fueling changes. He tried changing the temperature of the plugs to no avail.

    starting a family

I'm curious about this... how many of you got rid of the bike when you started a family? Did you pick it back up as a hobby later in life? I have a nervous wife... :)

    Exhaust gasket

Turns out the exhaust gasket wasn't what was needed. The reason I thought it was needed was obviously because it was there on the stock but also once I put the mistral on the clamp was too loose. So I thought it needed something to expand it. Turns out the mistral comes with a smaller clamp...

    Thanks Pete!

    Exhaust gasket

I bought a mistral exhaust the other day and made a quick attempt to get it installed. When I removed the stock exhaust the gasket stayed inside the stock exhaust pipe rather than on the bike. I made an attempt to take it out but the metal seems really soft and I got scared of damaging it. Is...

Head light and tail light out

Thanks. Got sent away for work so I haven't had a chance to look into it more but I will soon.

Head light and tail light out

I took out the griso last night for a ride and at some point my head light and tail light went out. Turn signals were fine. While they were out I noted that the dash was reading 12.4 volts rather than the usual 14 when the bike is running. When I shut the bike off and started it again...

    high idle

Yeah, all those things appear fine. The idle is perfect now though.

    high idle

When I first bought my Griso I would experience a high idle problem that lots of people on here described. After the bike is warmed up when you come to a stop the idle only comes down to about 2k unless you put a slight load on the engine by letting out the clutch in gear. Then the idle will...

    The word on Ping

Were these PC/AT revisions? If so, any insight on how you went about the revisions?

griso - cracked mid pipe and squeaky clutch

Why do you miss the bend?
  18. D

    stepper motors

So Pete, you've never had the high idle problem? When the bike gets hot I will pull to a stop and the idle will stay around 2k. The only way to get it to return to idle is to let the clutch out slightly for a second to put a load on the engine then the idle will come down and stay down until...

The nerd in me has reared it's head again

Another thing to consider is that the engine spends a good amount of time (when you're only talking 3.9 seconds) at much lower rpms than where the peak HP is. Also, how well the rider picked their shift points near the peak. I had a friend who raced on a drag racing circuit and he regularly...
