  • Like the new V100, GuzziTech is full throttle into the future! We're now running on an all-new server and we've updated our Forum software. The visual differences are obvious, but hopefully you'll notice the super-fast speed. If you notice any glitches or have any issues, please post on the Site Support section at the bottom. If you haven't yet, please upgrade your account which is covered in the Site Support section or via the DONATE tab above, which gives you full site access including the DOWNLOADS section. U.S. Relay to the Rally 2009

IMO, we should remain true to the spirit of the award: Using the money to help a Guzzi rider injured while riding that year. Is that accurate, Todd? Was it meant to be exclusive of those killed? Was it meant to be inclusive only of those who were riding a Guzzi at the time? Seems like answering...

    Hydraulic Valves - 2 questions

If updated, there's nothing wrong with the hydros. They actually run more civilized than any of the others and require less maintenance. If I had one, I'd get a spare cam update kit to rat-hole, as they're a great value and have everything you'd need in case the worst happened. I'd also get the...

The future of the GuzziTech Forum

I'd vote fewer categories. Something about so many categories and so much segregation makes my brain seize up and my eyes start to bleed. JMO, though.

    loud fuel pump

Also check the screen on the petcock. A load of silty gas can plug it instantly. After a few hours of running thisly, the whine will be permanent.

    G8V resurrection of sorts...

Send the engine to me. It'd be best used to perk up my Eldorado . . . I'd have to do something to reduce the squirrels-in-a-cage whirring noises those things make.

    Air filter

That paper filter supplies enough air to get nearly 130hp out of an RSV Mille. It is unlikely to be the restriction in the system for a 70-hp Griso, or even a 90-hp 8V Griso. Nevertheless, I have fitted several of the K&Ns to Grisos, and the riders claim an improvement in midrange.

    Stelvio Handguards

At Moto Intl. we have the Stelvio guards for about half what Guzzi sells them for.

    Clutch Wear Inspection

Norge and most Brevas have different clutches. Most Brevas have the tried-and-true Guzzi two-plate clutch. Norge has a new single-plate clutch, and there is very little real-world data on how long it will last.

    CARC Output seal leak

Just another data point: At our shop (Moto Intl. in Seattle), we've seen several seals go on 30,000-ish mile bikes on which the bearing was just fine.

    Throttle meister install

There are two series of Breva 1100. The early ones had a different throttle and switchgear than the Norge. Late Brevas have norge throttle and switchgear.

Just waiting for my bike to be fixed...

The dealership at which I work has replaced many truly warped discs. Did two more today. We always try the bobbin trick first.

U.S. Relay to the Rally 2009

Mike Taylor had carried the Baton from Arkansas to the MGNOC National Rally in Salida, Colorado. After a nice presentation by Sam Baker of Texas on the history of the Baton and the Injured Rider

Yes, probably shouldn't be used on the twin-sparkers.

A Great Tire Kit for Guzzi Riders

After trying everything from bicycle pumps to electric pumps to CO2, here's the tire kit I found to be the best and handiest for use on a Guzzi. It's got an engine pump, patches for tubes, plugs for tubeless tires, and the tools to insert the plugs. It all fits in a handy little bag that stows...

The Easy Way to Grease ITI Speedos

Reads just about dead nuts on all the time now. Over 80 mph, it reads a little fast again, 2 mph or so. The odometer is extremely accurate, within 0.001 miles, according to the bicycle speedo.

Piaggio Group Reveals Strategic Plan for 2009-2012

Re:Piaggio Group Reveals Strategic Plan for 2009-2 Good Lord. Take the Milwaukee out of H-D and see what happens. We are going to see what happens when you take the Mandello out of Moto Guzzi, sadly. Cheap scooters for the lot of you. It has already begun. Those of you who do not work with...

    Cush Drive Maintenance Follow-Up

I posted a thread a few years ago about how to really make and keep your cush drive functional. Almost always when I disassemble one, they are frozen in place and nonfuctional for rust and lack of grease. There are several levels to which you can take it: The most basic is to pull it apart...

The Easy Way to Grease ITI Speedos

I pulled apart my ITI speedo just before the National ride, just to see how the greasing I did 21,000 miles ago (at about 7,000 miles) was holding up, and also to calibrate it more precisely. I had already turned the needle back about 10 mph at 70 mph, but my calibrated bicycle speedo showed...

    New bike warranty "crack-down"

I can tell you from experience how difficult it is to get a customer to accept the fact that Guzzi will not warranty his front rotors that warped after 6 months of ownership and a few thousand miles. That's over $700 in parts alone. The rules haven't changed; it's just that they are now denying...
