New MGNOC monthly breakfast in Rochester, NY

Great idea! Hope I can make it sometime.

What did you do to your Moto Guzzi today?

I looked at it (and my Triumph) in the garage. It's been raining for days around here, plus I'm not feeling well, so just looking at 'em cheers me up a bit.

    Loose oil filter

Thanks for the replies. I've always spread a thin film of oil on every filter I've ever changed, cleaned the surface, and torqued to the manufacturers specs. Never had a problem. Could be part of a bad batch of UFI filters, who knows how long these sit on dealers shelves. Anyone have the # for...

    Loose oil filter

I've got about 2600 mi on my '08 Sport. Love most things about the bike so far, but the oil filter seems to loosen itself every so often. When I changed the oil at about 700 mi, I made sure I tightened it to the proper torque and it seemed fine for a few hundred miles, so I forgot about it. At...

    What size shot for bars?

I'm not concerned with the cause. I'm sure the vibes are normal for this bike. I've always had issues with my throttle fingers going numb, no matter the bike. On some bikes, just putting on softer or thicker grips helped. Rather than spend the $ for a bar snake, I thought I'd try the lead shot...

    What size shot for bars?

Thanks for the reply, but all I asked was what size lead shot to put in the bars. It seems like an easy and harmless way to start. Anybody?

    What size shot for bars?

I'm ready to try the old idea of putting lead shot in the handlebars to quell the vibes. Anyone try this before? I've got Mana bars on my 1200 Sport. The interior hole is about 5/16". I know nothing about guns/ammo. Went to the local shop and they had boxes of lead shot labled #8, #7.5, and #6...

    Hand Grips

I've always liked Pro Grip #714, although I usually have to cut the ends off to accommodate the bar end weights. They're generally softer and absorb a little more vibration than the stock grips, although on my 1200 Sport, the vibes are about the same.

I'll try it 1st thing tomorrow. Thanks to all.

    how to reset service icon

John, the post you directed me to mentions a "button" or "joystick". My bike has a button on the front of the left hand grip control that is used to toggle thru the functions. Is this what they are referring to? I sure can't find any "joystick".

    how to reset service icon

I have a new (leftover) '08 1200 Sport which just had the 625 mi service done last week. I've ridden about 250 mi since then and just noticed today the little spanner icon below the odometer. I assume this is there to remind me to have the service done. Was the mechanic supposed to reset this...

    Tranny & shaft oil

I'm having the 1st (600 mi) service done on my '08 1200 Sport at the dealership nearby that used to be a Guzzi dealer. Of course, no one seems to remember a lot about Guzzis, so I turn to you guys. Is the oil for the transmission and the final drive the same? According to the manual, they both...

    Breva Sport valve cover gaskets

I have an '08 Breva 1200 Sport. Does anyone know if the valve cover gaskets are the same as the standard Breva?

    metal fuel filter

Thanks for the #. So, is the filter located inside or outside the tank?

    metal fuel filter

I have a new '08 1200 Sport and I'm just about ready to have the 600 mi. service done. I've read that I should have the plastic fuel filter changed out to a BMW metal filter. I stopped at the local BMW dealer and he showed me the only metal one they had. Fairly large looking to me. Anyone know...

    oil filter wrench?

The 160 dollar price was from Guzzi, not Harley. Anyway, I just found one that seems to fit well at Harbor Freight...4.99. Normally, I shy away from cheap tools, but this was worth a shot.

    oil filter wrench?

Thanks for the suggestions. Having a tough time finding the proper wrench. I'll try Harbor Freight and BMW next. The Harley dealership I work part time for used to be a Guzzi dealer and they had the Guzzi wrench, solid aluminum, very nice tool ,but....160 BUCKS! That aint gonna happen. Anyone...

    oil filter wrench?

I just got my new 1200 Sport a few weeks ago and I'm about due for the 1st service. Stupid question, do I need a special (Guzzi?) wrench to get the oil filter off? Any other special tools? Also, I'm reading elsewhere on this forum that I should change the fuel filter to a metal one. Is mine...

    Breva 11 - Norge 12 & 1200 Sport Registry and picture thread

Is that hugger a Guzzi item? If not, who makes it and where did you get it? Looks like a good idea.

    Breva/Norge footpegs

Maybe I'll do that, I just assumed they'd be really expensive. Thanks
