    Mobil 1 15w-50

Humidity probably has something to do with it, but I've found that white sludge in the vent tubes after riding all day in 95 deg temps. I would guess that having the steel frame tube as part of the vent system is a contributor. I would suppose it gets warm during operation and condensation...

    Mobil 1 15w-50

Anybody running Mobil 1 15w-50 in an older 1000? I have a 90 Cal III and use the standard Valvoline 10w-40 but my vent hoses are always full of thick water emulsified oil foam. Looking at trying a different oil, Mobil 1 15w-50 looks like it's for higher rpm and flat tappet application.

    Navigation with iphone

Does anyone know how to use a custom made google map with an iphone for navigation. The only way I found is to bookmark all the intersections and stop and reroute at every bookmark (pain in the ass).

    N. Carolina to Arkansas

Just got back from a trip to see my folks in the Ozark Mnts. Rode from where I live in Knotts Island NC across the bottom of Va then south back into Carolina down the Blue Ridge Parkway and over to the Tail of the Dragon. From there went across Tn. into Kentucky, Missouri and into Arkansas. I...

    Front tire slide

Does anyone know the reason why your front wheel automatically turns inward if it begins to slide through a turn? I have experienced this many times throughout my life but never really thought about it until this past weekend when leaned over and hit a patch of sand mid turn. You see it all the...

    California valve adjustment

I haven't considered the head bolt torque. Everything on the bike is stock though, nothing has been done to the engine except normal maintenance. My father in law owned it since new and I got it from him a while back. I did check the clearance cold and rechecked hot, and while the engine cooled...

    California valve adjustment

I almost refrain from writing this because I know how motorcycle guys are, especially niche motorcycle guys. Despite the raised eyebrows this will probably bring maybe someone will relate. I have been around bikes all my life and have vast mechanical experience with a variety of machines but...

    california vintage engine bog

Father in law has a 07 california vintage, it has a problem between 2500 and 3000 rpm. If you cruise steady throttle between 2,500 and 3,000 it's fine but if you try to lightly accelerate the engine will fall flat on it's face. If you if you open the throttle hard it's fine. She'll run wide open...

    90 cal iii oil pump

Thanks for the advice. The bike's got 90,000, surprising how good everything looks inside. I started looking into the engine because I had a knock at idle when the engine was cold. I thought it was a worn piston skirt so I dropped the sump but everything in there is tight. Pretty sure my noise...

    90 cal iii oil pump

I pulled the front cover to check the timing chain and found I can wiggle the oil pump gear slightly. This is my first Guzzi so I'm not very familiar. I have seen pictures of guzzi oil pumps and it looks like the shaft is only supported on one side, so maybe a little play is normal. I haven't...
