    Quota rear main seal

Careful to use the right bolts if replacing the paper seal. Sounds like a no-brainer, but the low mileage Q that I bought had what I assumed was a rear main seal leak. When the trans was removed however, we found that the leak was the bearing carrier paper gasket. On further examination/removal...

    Mille GT 1000 valve lash

I set them .009 in and .009 exhaust, cold. on my Eldo, SPII and Quota. Seems to be okay and what many others use.

compression fork leg on 45 Marzocchis

I am in the process of changing oil in the Marzocchis on my Quota 1100. The rebound side went well, but I do not seem to get any compression on the other side except for that provided by the spring. On the rebound side, the small diameter inner rod is acted upon by the manual adjustment screw...

Well there ya go. Happy happy.

    Lemans Mk5 Side Stand

What about a Brown? Will that work on your Mk5? I just put one on my SPII and it makes a WORLD of difference for ease of deployment and stability. Nathan at Boxerworks makes them. JD

    Quota fork boots

Well the price was right, and the shipping was quick, but they sure are a lot shorter than I expected. I trimmed the diameter to fit the Quota fork tubes and lower, but lengthwise they only extend maybe 5 inches up the tube. We'll see how they work out this season. Thanks!

    Quota fork boots

Those are interesting looking specimens. Quite unlike the usual gaiter/boot. Can;t go wrong for the price, I guess, so I might have to give them a try. Thanks!

    Quota fork boots

Good day' Can someone tell me what make and model fork boots will fit on the 1100ES? I have looked at the Daystar 402s, but would like to know if they will fit properly before I plunk down the cash. The descriptions I have seen do not provide top or bottom inner diameters. Any other types people...

    Jackal 2000 Noisy Fuel pump

Todd, what's the skinny on using injector cleaner in the fuel? Not advised due to plastic tanks or such? I have used it with good results in automotive applications, but am hesitant to use in in my bikes. JD

    Problem with Cali Phf´s

Funny. I was going to ask you about that vent tube last night, having just gone through this on my SPII over the past year. Glad you found the problem. Mine was a tiny insect cocoon inside the vent tube, causing the float needle to not seat properly, resulting in gas welling up through the main...

    Poor running Q

I appear to have finally resolved the bad running issues with this bike. I have fought with backfiring on deceleration, popping and spitting at lower rpm, and very rough running between 2000 and 3000rpm, particularly around 2800. The bike ran great above 3000rpm, but i like to travel around...

You are right, I wasn't reading the schematic correctly obviously. Thanks John.

    Headlight switch/4 way flashers

I am pretty sure your lights do in fact run through a relay. I have the twin 1000 lights on my 1100 as well, and there is a headlight mini relay among the bank of relays next to the fuses. Looking at the wiring schematic it shows a relay as well. Not sure why you are having issues with the...

    Poor running Q

I reset the TPS to 1.4 today, and tried to balance the TB, with no success. The bike is now running on only the right cylinder, and I was unable to correct that issue, thus obviously was unable to balance things. The right plug is quite sooty, but the left is black and wet. Pulling the plug had...

    Poor running Q

I did not have time today to work much on the bike, but I did take a moment to check that the intake hoses were tight. It would have been a cheap fix, but unfortunately that did not seem to be the problem. But thanks for the advice anyway, it never hurts to check the simplest things first before...

    Poor running Q

John, with all due respect, I did follow Mike Haven's article. I set the TPS to 1.4 Actually 1.35, 1.5 and other points) with ignition and start switches on, but not running. When that resulted in poor running, I attempted other methods, none of which were fruitful. At this point I am going to...

    Poor running Q

I warmed the bike up, set the throttle to 100rpm with my Harmonizer, then shut down and set the TPS at 1/35. The result was that the bike ran very poorly, spitting back etc, rough, strong rich exhaust smell. Shut down, set TPS to 3.7, started up, set idle speed to 1150, ran not bad, but real...

    Poor running Q

I hooked up the Centurian (received it yesterday) and the TPS gives me a reading of 2.27/2.3, and from what I understand, this should be at 1.4 (+/- 0.3). How does one set the TPS? The VDST info says " the software can be used to manually set the TPS...", but the Quota ES manual says the TPS...

    Poor running Q

This project is going to be on hold until I get the proper tools to diagnose the underlying problem. In the meantime, is it possible/adviseable to remove and clean the TPS? Or would I be inviting more gremlins? Also, the rattle in the ECU is bothering me. A lot. Anyone successfully open and...
